I finally got around to watching this last night and I actually really liked this week's episode. Stuff happened, the relationships between the characters actually led to some new stuff, new experiences, etc.
I predict the father is in on it.OldArmy71 said:
This episode was well done.
As mentioned, the series should have been half as long.
One issue I have with the mother going after Amma is that there is not a hint at all in the other episodes that Amma is sickly or has ever had any health issues. All we see her doing is skating all over the place. Maybe such hints would make the problem too obvious.
I predict that her father is going to save Amma.
So far, it's following pretty closely (except for the Calhoun day episode). Both things that you asked about (Richard and John) happened in the book and I'd definitely say I had a similar reaction.pinkdog said:
To the book readers: is the show still staying fairly close to the book story line? Did Camille have a fling with Richard in the book? Or also the motel room with John Keene? Seems weird for Camille to be with Richard and then with young John Keene as part of the story line. But this is tv.
I think any tease at all of her medicating them would have given it away. Instead, what they did set up well in that regard was her sick and twisted obsession to be needed by her children (and others). It didn't really come out of left field at all to me because we know how weird she's been in terms of raising her kids, her dislike of the daughter that rejected her, etc.Bunk Moreland said:
Enjoyed last night's episode, though I do wish they'd have done something to tease Adora medicating them to make them sick and then "heal" them a lot earlier than 5 seconds before they reveal that plot-line. So now the race is on, to clear the young kid's name, to save Amma, and figure out what all happened to the rest of the kids. Should be a fun finale.
He'd be smart to turn her in... After Amma's gone, dead or college, he's the only one at the house left to mother/poison.OldArmy71 said:
Yes, I agree. It is certainly possible that Adora has manipulated him, too, and he is the muscle in the operation.
Whether he is an active participant or not, he knows what Adora is doing. I think he has now had enough and is going to draw the line at killing another of their children.

there are scenes where Amma definitely seems sickly and lethargic. the images of the white sick gown and all.
maybe
anyone catch the big name change when Camille parked at the square from Queasy to English or something like that?
i was hoping John would ask who cut the names on her back. maybe Adora cut her daughter and blamed her?
the hotel scene was gripping. the "you're just a drunk *****" was harsh, but can you really disagree? the detectives fault for falling for a crazy chick.

So everyone here is all in on the mom killing the other girls too? When the wife and I were talking over it we both think it's Amma, jealous that her mom treated the other girls the way that she wishes she would treat her instead of the way she does.
