I may have details wrong. I know there was the transgendered lead and the in-the closet movie star guy. I also remember it featuring a graphic scene of woman screwing the transgendered lead (who was a man who became a woman) with a dildo. Then an orgy scene with a lot of the "straight" characters having same sex sex (probably dream sequence you are referring to).fig96 said:While the series definitely touched on LGBT themes, this isn't at all accurate.bangobango said:Sigh.TCTTS said:
You realize that's EXACTLY what the first movie was, right? "Unplugging," being your "true" self, etc... it's packed with transgender themes, albeit somewhat coyly.
How did I know TCCT was going to preach over that comment?
Yes, I realize that if you really stretch it out, and especially if you consider it in the context of what we know about the Wachowskis today, then there are "transgendered" themese throughout the first movie. I can honestly say, however, that I don't think anybody on this thread was really thinking about transgenderism when they left the theater after seeing the first movie.
Obviously, if they keep it like the first movie, then I don't have a problem with it. Sense8 explored similar themes, it involved eight people throughout the world who could all sense and communicate with each other no matter where they were. Out of those eight people, like half of them or something were transgendered or gay. Out of those that were not gay when the series started, several of them ended up becoming either gay or bisexual.
It was a cool concept and I enjoyed the first several episodes, but when it became obvious that it was going to be overly fixated on sexuality I quickly lost interest.
It's just not a theme that interests me or a lot of people, and if that's the way that they go with the Matrix 4, it's going to bomb.
Of the main characters one character was a transgendered lesbian, one guy was gay. All the rest of the main characters were straight.
There was one weird dream sequence where errrybody was getting it on, but your general observation is just not true.
Regardless, it was too much for me. Cool concept. Terrible execution.
