I don't have high hopes whatsoever because the last entries have been solidly meh imo, but hard to beat $5. I've watched all of one or two trailers and don't know the basic plot besides dinosaurs. Hoping to be pleasantly surprised.

I'm not saying this entry will be great, but it at least sounds better than the last three. Again, it's a completely different creative team than the last trilogy. David Koepp - who wrote the first movie - has returned to write this one, and it's directed by Gareth Edwards, who directed Godzilla (2014) and Rogue One.
I get all that, I just don't have much faith in Hollywood to make things that aren't geared to the bottom quintile of the population, especially tentpole stuff. Obviously there are some exceptions, but I hope I am wrong. Willing to give it a shot.

I'm not saying JPR will be on the same level as any of these, or that all of these are absolute bangers, but I would argue that the tentpole stuff has never been more interesting/not "geared to the bottom quintile."
Remakes, sequels, superhero movies, cartoons and action movies are pretty much all geared to the bottom quintile. They may still be enjoyable, and many of those are, but that doesn't make them not geared towards the bottom quintile. I almost put in my initial post that Nolan is the outlier, because he definitely does not do that.
You said "geared to the bottom quintile" as if to speak to the quality of the current tentpole landscape. But if most of the above titles are good to great, or interesting at worst, what does it matter if they're remakes, sequels, superhero movies, cartoon, and action movies? That's... the game. And has been for decades now, re: tentpoles.
Like I said… Jurassic is my favorite franchise ever, first movie I remember seeing as a kid, my opinion might be biased… BUT I will also tell it how it is. It might suck because of XZY, BUT I will never complain about getting more Jurassic anything ever.

I'm seeing this mystery movie tonight, but saw a thread on reddit (not a thing that I ever go to, it was forwarded to me after I posted on my work Slack channel about thinking JWR is what I might see tonight) that revealed it is in fact going to be JWR. I'll come back to report what I saw.
As for the commentary about bottom quintile, that comes across with an oozing arrogance (not the poster who used that term, just the general idea). It's a big reason why I quit watching any award shows (other than the political bullcrap, absolutely none of which I will ever agree with). Snooty attitudes is what I heard when I hear this kind of term, as if these superhero/sequel/remake type of movies are only for the lowest form of humanity out there (whatever that is). With that mindset, what has typically been referred to as the greatest sequel ever made - The Godfather Part II - must be mindless drivel. No thanks, I'll take the so-called bottom quintile type of movie probably 99% of the time over whatever the Academy or snooty critics say I should like.

ftr, I don't have real high hopes for Jurassic World Rebirth, but that's based only on the quality of the last two in particular. I did a rewatch of the original trilogy plus Jurassic World over the weekend. Even if there had been more hours in the day, I would not have rewatched either of the last two. But as a lifelong dinosaur nut, I would never skip a movie in this series. Might not ever watch it again, but I will watch it at least once.

However bad the movie may or may not be, it can't be worse than using your phone in the theater. If I had my way, it would be a jailable offense. At the very least, someone should pour their Coke on your head.
I know what a dimmer on my phone is, and the only person who could see it (who I don't know) is voice mocking this movie aloud to me.

I actually enjoyed this for the most part. Definitely some changes I would have made about a couple plot lines/characters, but a pleasant surprise.

What you're referring to has been featured in multiple trailers, behind-the-scenes reels, and interviews.
And sorry I have a problem with people texting in movie theaters. It's objectively annoying and incredibly disrespectful, I don't care how dim your screen was.
As for our little bet, we shall see. This franchise is notoriously critic proof, and this movie in particular is still tracking higher than any movie this summer, so I'm not particularly worried yet.

I have no idea how you could take her seriously as some 10+ year grizzled specops operator. She had like two scenes that they tried to make her a badass in and the rest was her being comedic relief.
If that's true (which it's not), consider it payback for you ruining the end of Presumed Innocent for me, and then being utterly unapologetic about it afterward.
