Trying to think... when's the last time there was a great fourth movie in a series? (If ever?)

For reference --
SW: The Phantom Menace
Indiana Jones and the Crystal Skull
Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire
Terminator: Salvation

I really love TPM, and while I think there are great parts, I don't know if I can defend it as a great movie.

I did NOT know that Rashida Jones wrote the story for this movie. Or at least part of it

First time since 95 there won't be a Pixar short in front of the movie.

Strange.

I am still bummed this one didn't land on Father's Day. I don't remember the last time Disney/Pixar didn't have a release on Father's Day weekend.

I understood that reference, but I've also never seen Finding Nemo. Only Pixar movies I think I've seen are Monsters, Inc., The Incredibles, and Cars (Cars only because I was babysitting a niece).

Monday morning, 98 reviews in, still holding strong at 100%.

If it can keep it, that would be 3 perfect scores in the series. That's got to be historic. I doubt anything can surpass that.

How close was the LotR trilogy to perfect scores?

If you have kids, watch Inside Out.

Or if you don't have kids, watch Inside Out.

Hell.....just watch Inside Out.

Wall-E

The entire movie is great, but the first half (with no real dialogue or human characters) is damn near perfect. He's also one of the sweetest, most lovable characters Pixar has created.

Oooooohhhhhhh, did Pixar slip in a Forky easter egg back in Wall-E?

No offense....but why bother opening or reading the thread then?

I've seriously been waiting for this movie for like 3 years since it was first rumored/announced

I felt like most of Wall-E was just a really really long Pixar short....and I don't mean that negatively just the feeling I got but very entertaining

Inside Out is so good. Coco is also amazing. The story is great but the visuals are just insane.

Good question. For clarity, I didn't post to dump on the topic. I often follow media properties without personally consuming them, similar to how I follow playoff basketball or hockey without watching the games. Plus, I often enjoy reading the discussions people have about and around the subject.

I'm pretty sure that is 90% of this board I constantly read stuff on movies and shows I don't plan on watching.

95% of Pixar movies are just amazing (Cars 2, I'm looking at you as the outsider)

I think I was suffering from Pixar burnout for a while. Cars 2 was bad, but every movie after that, i thought was good, but not great. I didn't love Inside Out or Coco like everyone else. I did love Incredibles 2 though, so maybe I'm over it.

Up might be one of my favorite movie openings.

Pixar is great at telling a story without dialogue.

I'm not crazy about the Incredibles, but I am a huge Monsters Inc fan.

Giacchino's score really complemented that opening.....along with the rest of the movie

This is no different than my teen years in the late 80's: wandering up and down the aisles at the video store, reading the backs of hundreds of VHS boxes. I knew the plots, writers, directors and stars of soooooooo many movies that I never watched.

Thinking Toy Story 4 might be a good first film to take my 3yr old son to the movies. I'll be curious to see how long it holds his attention.

My 3 year old has done Incredibles 2 and Aladdin and loved them both. She loves eating popcorn and sitting in the big chairs and has done well both times
