Okay, I'm really not trying to be a dick here, but I just don't understand how anyone could think TS3 is better than TS2.

For me, TS2 is hilarious and creative and unpredictable from start to finish. Off the top of my head I can think of many scenes that made me laugh out loud.

I can't think of a single scene from TS3 that had the same effect. What are the really funny scenes from TS3?

Also, the whole plot of TS3 had already been told in TS2.

I just don't get it.
You don't understand how people could have a different opinion than you?

There's more to a story than humor. I feel Toy Story 3 is more a direct sequel to the original where as Toy Story 2 is more of a stand alone story. Sure Jesse plays a role in the next movie, but the story doesn't have the connection to the first like 3 has. Toy Story 3 is about saying goodbye to your childhood, but also a parent saying goodbye to their kid as they leave to go off on their own, except we're seeing it from the POV of the toys instead of mom. Its way more emotional than Toy Story 2 IMO and not a recycled plot.

Apparently TS4 demolished the opening day record in Argentina, held by Endgame.

Quote:

Toy Story 4 delivered the biggest OD ever, blasting every existing record (Avengers: Endgame 310.911 adm.), with a wordless 417.955 adm. The day was pushed by a holiday and a cold and rainy day.

Ok, so I went back and watched the TS3 ending and it sucks....

Just kidding... It is amazing, just an incredible ending. I remember seeing it in the theater with my 3 boys being a little disappointed, but I do now remember loving the ending, and loving the Bonnie character and loving how Andy bonded with her.

I still think TS2 is better, but I understand the TS3 love.

That gave me a thought.

I bet the scene where Buzz gets put in Spanish mode just doesn't have quite the comedic delivery in Latin America.

Just saw on the news 16 Aggies were involved with the making of this movie.

Is it just me or did y'all think the puppets in TS4 were the creepiest thing in any of the movies? Also did anyone else fee like they were watching a zombie movie when they were chasing Woody?

Yes, they were pretty scary. Some small children may not be able to take it.

And about Gabby Gabby. For most of the movie she's evil and scary, even instructing her henchmen puppets to rip Woody's voice box out of him, then all of a sudden she's forgiven and helped? I thought her turn-around to being a good toy was a little too sudden...

Oh wow, $136M opening weekend. (Unless there's a significant bump tomorrow.)

That's pretty disappointing considering Incredibles 2 opened to $180M.

Still the best opener for the series, but TS3 did $110M in 2010. I had this pegged for at least 190.

I wonder if they just packed too much into this summer. Hell, literally everything post Endgame has disappointed at the box office except John Wick.

My theater today was about a quarter full. Granted, it was a morning showing, but still surprising.

I think everything g has been mediocre and movie prices are not worth going. In the case of toy story I think a 4th movie can be a little redundant at this point after they wrapped it up so well already and may not interest as many people this time except for kids and fans of the series.

Yeah, this movie ended on such a high note. There won't be another Toy Story movie for at least 10 more years or never again.

Mine was about 1/3-1/2 full, and it was the opening night IMAX showing.

Movies are getting too expensive to rush to see the fourth rehash of something that will look just as good at home in a few months. Especially if you have a couple kids that aren't really going to pay attention anyway.

TS4 grosses an estimated $47.39 million on Friday. Looking at $122-$125 million opening weekend, well below expectations.

quite the opposite actually.

Granted a small sample size but a Latino client I had and her family love that scene. She does the type of dancing buzz does in TS3 and she said the nailed everything about it.

That and they made him like a Spanish soap opera character

Well below expectations, but also easily on pace to give Disney the 4 biggest movies of the year so far. And looking at the rest of the calendar, Spider-Man (Sony) and IT (??) are the only sure things to keep Disney from running the whole top 7. Lion king, frozen 2, & Star Wars still to come.

I don't have It: Chapter Two cracking the top 10 grossing worldwide in the end but Spider-Man, Jumanji 3, and Hobbs & Shaw are all likely to go in from my perspective.

I'm physically exhausted from the tensing up to try to avoid getting misty-eyed when I watch these stupid movies.

Benson and the other dummies were genuinely creepy.

Another homerun by Pixar.

I'm very curious to see how Hobbes & Shaw does. Fate of the Furious was a domestic disappointment (global smash hit and therefore very profitable), especially compared to Furious 7. But I'm interested to see if the franchise is fading without Paul Walker or if the global numbers keep it relevant far beyond regardless of the domestic numbers.

First time since 95 there won't be a Pixar short in front of the movie.

Strange.

I saw an article claiming this as well, but Coco didn't have a pixar short either. It had the frozen 20 min "short" that was done by Disney animation studios (not pixar). And that was pulled by the second week, so then coco didn't have any short at all.

Took the 3-year-old to an early showing after church for his first in-theater movie. Mom and I loved it and he had a blast, save for the scary toys. He says his favorite character is Forky which will save a lot of money on merchandising. I was proud of him being well-behaved in the theater too.

Pretty much exactly what I hoped for.

Just got out. What a great family fun summer movie. Laughs, excitement, and I teared up one or twice. The montage of Forky trying to throw himself away was great.

However, how do you cast Mel Brooks in your movie, make him one the toys in the closet and only give him a few lines of dialog?

Saw it this afternoon with our kids. All really enjoyed it and I definitely was impressed for a 4th movie in a series. Will definitely pick this up once it hits retail.

This was the sequel I didn't know I needed, so freakin' good.

And Ducky and Bunny steal the show, flat out hilarious. Their "plans" were amazing.

Saw it yesterday in Dolby Cinema. I don't know what your media setup at home is like, but mine definitely can't compete with that.

They packed too much into the summer IMHO.

I think its hard to compare Incredibles 2 to Toy Story 4. The first Incredibles was one of the best Pixar movies with more universal appeal(older superhero fans which may not otherwise go watch most non superhero cartoons). And Pixar made fans wait 14 years for the sequel to a very well-liked movie. And they did not disappoint.

Also, Aladdin still pulled down $12 million and Pets pulled down $10. Incredibles 2 didn't have any family movie competition when it opened. Solo was #2 on the Incredibles 2 opening weekend. There was a lot of R rated and PG-13 content surrounding Incredibles 2. Movies like Solo, Tag and Deadpool 2. So they really had zero competitors their opening weekend. Even their second weekend was clear of pure family, with Jurassic opening as a PG-13.

My kids and I all enjoyed it. The goodbye at the end was so well done.

I actually disagree with this being the end. I think that ending twists sets up some interesting parallel stories going forward. Also frees the characters up to do some new things.

Only Disney could look at these numbers and be a little disappointed.

Now, add in their total revenue from merchandising and this movie will cross $1 billion pretty quickly.

That actually reminds me. I should probably go eat crow on that thread. I said I wouldn't see it. And I didnt want to, but my kids(neither of which were fans of the cartoon) wanted to go see it after all their friends said it was great(teenaged and elementary aged).

So we we were part of the $12 mill this weekend. Even though I wanted to go to TS4, because I consider it one of the best movie series of all time.

Anyway, I admit I was pleasantly surprised. I'm still kind of meh on the story, but the movie was much better than the marketing led me to beleive. One of the worst marketed Disney movies I can remember. I have to go back to BFG to remember something as bad or worse.
