After the show, my wife and I watched the behind the scenes right after the episode. I had to do a double take on it as my wife left the room, but I swear they referenced talking about something you couldn't explore before Joel's death when discussing the scene where Joel is talking to the great Catherine O'Hara.
I was exhausted at the time, but was that really said? Felt like that was a major spoiler given.
I believe they said they worked up a scene with Joel talking to a therapist in season one but it didn't really work and it made more sense in season two.
That episode was just okay for the most part but Bella really didn't work in that episode, which makes me think she won't for the rest of the series. She fit as Ellie in the first season as a kid but she still comes across as a child to me on the screen. They needed to get an older actress IMO. Ellie is supposed to be several years older, and more athletic in the second game. Bella looks like a kid who's been playing video games vs someone who you'd think would be in better shape because the entire world is trying to kill you and you have to be physically prepared at all times. It doesn't look like she's ever done any exercise in her life and wouldn't be able to fight off an infected or any person in general. That made the fight training scene fall that much flatter to me, it had no business being in there IMO.
