Do all the songs have that lousy rapping in them, I have only heard a couple songs and the guys terrible rap ruined them.
Give some examples of rap you do like, otherwise you are being disengenous. Choosing to watch a musical that has rapping, when you don't like, is insane.

Beastie Boys, Tribe called Quest, De La Soul, Erik B and Rakim, Public Enemy

90s stuff.

You're in luck. There are several 90's rap callbacks including most obviously Biggie & Grandmaster Flash. And when you say "that guys delivery," there are several guys in this production.

Maybe the raps aren't well done for people with a knowledge of rap?

I hate rap music and actually love the Cabinet Battles

Pretty good to go from a 2009 poetry jam at the White House to getting $75 million from Disney for the rights to the movie.

It's funny how outlandish the idea was he had for a musical about Alexander Hamilton of all people. He had virtually no support early and was laughed at for this idea.

I can't watch musicals on tv, especially if it is 100% signing. I tried to watch it because everyone says it's awesome (I believe them), and I lasted about 30 minutes. I guess I'll have to watch it in a theatre sometime.

I'm sure this has been posted before, but he came up with the idea for Hamilton while on vacation at the resort my wife and I have gone to for the past three years.

I'm a hip hop head & the raps are very well done IMO. Lin Manuel has BARS. The cabinet battles are some of my favorites too because I'm so impressed at how well he implements and executes the battle rap style. But as a whole, the songs are just so well constructed that I think anyone can appreciate Hamilton.

Starting this now. The theater announcer introduced himself as "your king, George III," and the audience cheered. 240 years later and New York is still on the wrong side.

I guess it depends which guy you heard, because the guy who wrote all of it and plays the main character, is all about 90s rap.

That was really good. I somehow managed to avoid even the music before tonight.

Also, I'm not apologizing for my sense of humor.

Another note about the "poor" rapping.

This was recorded live. No studio recording. All live rapping is nowhere near as good as the studio recording. I think that you are judging unfairly and comparing recorded music vs. live music.

However, I will say this, as I already stated before in this thread, as great as Manuel is, his vocals are just okay. So I would agree if you are saying that Manuel is not that great. However, Lafayette (Daveed Diggs - Tony winner), Burr(Leslie Odom - Tony winner), Angelica (Renee Goldsberry - Tony winner) and Eliza (Phillipa Soo) are fantastic.

Another poor comparison is to simply compare a musical artist in a studio to a broadway artist who is singing 9 times a week, and choreographing the dance/movements at the same time. Watch it again and pay attention to the dancing and movement of the actors.

I've seen it live once and watched the recent video release twice. I appreciate it more each time I watch.

Just watched. Thought it was just ok. Probably one of those deals better seen in person. Also probably would have been better had I seen the live musical first then watched this.

they cheered for a couple of reasons 1 being the originator of the role was back for one show so that was a special treat to the audience.

So i caanot be the first to make the comparison to Amadeus as far as plot theme. Lesser known guy jealous of the wunderkind and ends up destroying him and regretting it.

I'm wondering if this is going to open the door for other shows to be streamed online Wicked would be really good. As well as dear Evan Hansen.

As far as non-musicals... Harry Potter and the cursed child could bring in a lot of money if it was streamed

I'm sure this will be an unpopular opinion here, but I thought Lin Manuel kind of sucked as Hamilton. The guy I saw in the touring show was better. Lin just didn't seem like he fit the role to me. He didn't really have the cockyness that was implied in the show. I guess if you create the show, though, you can demand the lead.

Same. I've said this in other threads: LMM is an amazing writer, but terrible actor. His voice is step above Gilbert Gottfried for me.

First time to watch the show for me, I enjoyed It but it's over hyped.

I find him to be very yappy and annoying.

Yep. First time I saw it and he (Lin) was a detriment to the production.
Really like it though. I think my favorite part was Thomas Jefferson coming back from France.

it is very good creative art performed by some amazingly talented people. Also, it is based on a real dude who is a part of our American story.
