Does anyone else expect the wife's crime to be completely ridiculous?
I don't think we will ever be told what she did, but if we do it will be an obscure federal crime.redline248 said:

This makes me think it'll be more enjoyable (the earlier episodes) on a rewatch because you'll care/understand the characters more.nickstro66 said:
I feel like the season got better as it went on. The secondary characters were great. It's not the perfect comedy show, but it was fun and a good way to waste a few hours.
I agree, I think the voice just doesn't work. It was worth trying, but someone on the production side of the show should have made that call. He could use his normal voice, but just alter his tone or cadence pretty easily.Jim01 said:
Finished it up yesterday. It wasn't great but it definitely improved as it went. If they tighten up the writing it could show some promise. The way Carrell plays the character still annoys me though with the tough guy voice and all. I think it would work better if he just used his regular voice and played it dramatically.

I'm about halfway through right now, and it's not my favorite show, but I'll definitely finish it.
The one thing that's really strange to me is how everyone on the show is apparently ok with all the military folks trying to pick up a teenager (Naird's daughter).
Well one of those is an absurd situation for comedic effect, the other is a real world scenario.Yelnick McWawa said:h1ag said:

That's the strange thing to you? I mean they were gonna send a dog to fix a satellite after a chimp couldn't do it.....

They call her anger young congresswoman, and the actual name also had the initials AYC. Lol

Why does everyone keeps acting like this was so clever?
They made it abundantly clear who they were parodying. The Congressmen were "Senator Schugler", "AYC" and "Pitosi". They couldn't just parody them and let the audience put two and two together, nope, they beat you over the head with it and made sure you got it. With the POTUS character they at least did that part right.

Did it ever occur to you they weren't trying to be clever? I agree it's not clever, but I don't think it was meant to be. This was no attempt at subtle humor.
Of the 3, I did enjoy angry young congresswoman the most. I didn't really warm up to it until episode 3, though.
So that and the Pelosi parody were pretty obvious...was the Oklahoma flat Earther based on a real person or just a general out of touch caricature?Tanya 93 said:
I like the AOC parody
I feel like they are the parts that anyone should be able to laugh at. Tweeting hot takes and the such.Barbarossa said:
Started slow, now I'm on episode 7 and hooked. I'm prior Air Force so that may be a lot of it, but I look forward to season 2.
I will say that the production value is probably the highest I've ever seen for a comedy show, which is weird and takes a while getting used to... I'd rather it was a talking head point of view, with low-as-possible expectations. That might hurt it a bit.
Also, it's got some shots at trump but honestly way lower-key that I expected. Not distracting for me
