Awesome season finale. Loved everything about it. When was the last time a sci-fi show hit so many earned emotional notes?

And yeah, they didn't need to set up The Laconia storyline if they never plan to use it.

could be a possibility that they bring this show back but a few years down the road when the peeps are older? Who know but possibly.

think it was mentioned earlier in the thread, but could definitely see them coming back with a couple full length films to finish off the series after a few years have passed.

I'd think logistically, once you cancel a series and the cast and crew go off on their separate ways and have their differing commitments it becomes very very difficult to get everyone back together (unless you do various story lines like Arrested Development had to do)

This show is just so good. The emotional aspects of it are just phenomenal and ground it so well. The interaction between Holden and Amos regarding Peaches on the ship at the end was so perfectly done.

I also like how they made Alex's death mirror Fred Johnson's from the book. No blaze of glory. Stroking out bc of the stress on the body of burning that hard. Such a bummer Cas Anvar did what he did to get canned from the show, but appreciated the respect they had for the Alex character at the end.

But damn, what a way to end the season. REALLY damn curious who they are going to cast for Duarte.

Interview with the show runner about the finale and beyond:

I think the show runner is... if not outright lying, at least obfuscating about Alex's death.

If they didn't kill him off because of the allegations against Cas Anvar, then they were lucky it worked out the way it did. It even seemed like a visual cue when Bull was drinking out of the coffee mug that had 'Kamal' on the side that like, he's the new Alex.

the comment on there "Better than the last season but still boring"... Why do people like this even watch it? If they are bored then they are probably on their phone not paying any attention.

That seemed obvious to me that they wrote him off because Cas was gone, it had no buildup or dread. They did it well but they killed a main character way too quickly if it was always supposed to be written in.

Laughed out loud at Amos negotiating with Holden.

I was hoping to see Alex recast instead of killed off; he's such a good character. It won't be the same without him.

I will be so disappointed if they don't revisit the Laconia arc in a few years. That final scene was so well executed.

So just finished and sipping bourbon. Season 6 isn't for sure yet?

What the actual F?!?

For those asking about Naomi freezing to death on that jump, it is a vacuum, where is your heat going to go? A non factor compared to needing oxygen.

I can't believe this season is over already.

No, season 6 is guaranteed. It's happening. Anything beyond that though isn't.....yet

Yeah I would have thought they would have foreshadowed it more he that "always been the plan." But, it 100% mirrored Fred Johnson's death in the books. Which also kinda came out of nowhere and was a little anticlimactic. Regardless, I think they handled it about as well as they could have.

One of the best finales I've even seen. The Naomi rescue was so artistic I was mesmerized. So well done.

And the reunion and character growth of everyone, every single character I'm in love with, even Holden and Marco and Philip. This cast is incredible.

The fight scenes, Alex's stroke, all of it was a perfect finish.

Considering this and the next arc are the 2 best we should all be pissed if it doesn't renew. Has amazon released any rating figures?

Yeah, the cinematography ever since Naomi jumped really reminded me of breaking bad. Loved it.

I am frustrated they are introducing Laconia and we will likely not see the final three books

For what it's worth it's the only Prime show to top streaming services in recent weeks.

With top streaming ratings, surely it can get the final few seasons made.

I haven't read the books, but I was under the impression there's a 30 year time jump after what will be season 6, and that is one of the main reasons they want to stop the show there. Is that right?

There is a time jump and it is logica to make that end the series (though really they could do a couple of things to work around it). But that entire last third is about The MCRN offshoot forming Laconia and a high tech almost magic society because of the militaristic rule and experimentation of the protomolecule. The series is pretty grounded in reality but it goes balls to the wall in the back third in science fiction and it is amazing

Like which book?

This season was book 5. They have done about a book a season (although they had a shorter first season, so they ended up condensing down book three to about half a season).

Although my personal recommendation would be to start from the beginning. Book 6 is the weakest IMO, although I'm sure some will disagree with me. 7 and 8 are right up there with the first book for my favorites.

I haven't read any of the thread because I'm still playing catch-up and just finished season 3. How the **** did syfy let this go after that season finale? They have to be the worst run network out there.

Season 1 never grabbed me (started series 3 times before finishing season 1), but season 2 and 3 are some of the best sci-fi tv out there.

I hope it keeps up and glad I gave it one more shot.

Just checked, and looks like we have an official release date for book 9 on 11/16.
