If you haven't watched any of this anime series, it's very popular worldwide.

Right now, the final season is in release, with a new episode each Sunday. Our daughter got us into it. Dragged us into it, really. We weren't much interested.

But honestly in season 4, we are hooked.

If you decide to try it, I have a few suggestions:

1) Don't read anything about it or watch any YouTube in advance. Part of its greatness is the slow revelation of the story. It is brilliantly done, with subtle clues stuffed into each episode. The story is complex and richly developed.

2) Watch the subtitle version. The dub version is acted poorly. It is wholly inferior.

3) Hang in there through season 1. Anime is not my thing, but this tells a great story which is unlike anything you've watched before.

I havent watched the latest season yet. The first 3 seasons had their ups and downs, but its highs are some of the best anime has to offer. The Battle of Trost, eps 5-13 in season 1 was one of the most intense viewing experiences I can remember.

The mystery and lore it has been building is great. One of my favorite animes for sure.

How many eps is the last season supposed to be? Having a hard time seeing how they wrap it up satisfactorily unless it's something like 20 episodes. Source material is still a good deal ahead and not finished yet. Current anime episode happened like 35 chapter ago.

It's difficult waiting for a weekly episode, so I'll probably binge to catch up soon. I do love the show and it somewhat got me back into anime after dragon ball and gundam ran it's course in my youth. From the concept, the pacing, and the plot itself the show is just awesome. I honestly don't remember there being 15 minutes of dialogue in the first season, just nonstop action.

I can't recommend Attack on Titan enough. I'm not really an anime person and the only ones I've watched before this are Deathnote and Full Metal Alchemist and I think Attack on Titan is on par with both. You will have more questions than answers throughout the series, and this can be frustrating especially in season 1, but there is a reason for everything and there is pay off for hanging in there. It's been since game of thrones since I've seen a series that felt like they've had a plan the whole time. It's very impressive and an interesting and immersive world.

I started watching in season 1 and then had to know what happened so i started reading the manga as well and have kept up with it. In the manga they are in the end game which at the current pace of season 4 I don't know how they are going to have enough time to wrap this up.

I find the sub vs. dub argument to be dumb. The voice acting for the English cast is fine and it helps me to focus on the actual show instead of spending the whole episode reading. I literally get nothing from the Japanese voice acting.

Agreed, though unlike Deathnote I really hope it will stick the ending(like FMAB did). I do agree with you on Dubs, I generally miss the story or the visiuals if I'm reading the subs the whole time.

PS: If you want any other shows that are top shelf like these 3, I'd recommend Code Geass or Steins;Gate.

Actually quit death note, somehow the way he ended up getting rid of the first inspector felt really dark to me and kind of put me off the show.

This is my question too. I'm having a tough time seeing how they get from where they are now to the end.

Saw somewhere that this season is supposed to be 16 episodes total.

Lol. I can't believe you are watching this.

I finished Season 1 a few weeks ago but hadn't checked up on where I could watch remaining seasons. Hulu you say? We have that so will check it out.

Hulu has seasons 1-3 in sub and dub, and the current season, season four, the day after they air in japan in sub. The dubs for the currents season are a few weeks behind and airing on adult swim.

This is one of the next I am considering. I just finished Vinland Saga and it was great, I highly recommend it.

Here are the next I am considering and am causing myself paralysis by analysis:
Hunter x Hunter
Attack on Titan
Cowboy Bebop

I just started checking out anime and watched Vinland Saga because people had said it had a similar Game of thrones feel to it.

Attack on Titan is f'ing bonkers through the first few episodes...in a fascinating way....and then starts to unfold. It's really interesting. This thread reminds me I still need to start S2.

I have avoided HxH since I doubt the source material will ever be finished. I am really good at picking series that never finish and don't need another.

Last time I checked it out on Hulu they simply had every episode listed twice - one dubbed; one not. Is is not listed that way for you?

Just stay away from the internet. Don't watch any secondary sources or read anything. The show works in part because you cannot figure it out.

Warning, You will end up watching it twice once you get caught up.

I started it the other day because it is going off of Netflix this month but gave up after 10 episodes. It isn't my cup of tea.

Now I am in team AoT! Going to start it tonight

I'm doing a second watch through right now and its impressive how much set up there is for later events from the first episode. This series really rivals Game of Thrones in playing the long game.

New season has had one of the best fight scene episodes in the series, but all the other episodes have been extremely slow. Ready for it to finally kick off with some action.

Who can you talk to about getting like 5 more seasons of Berserk made? I know the visual style was polarizing, but there is no Berserk content being made and it's the greatest manga of all time. Meanwhile there are approximately 15,000 episodes of One Piece.

Nice, I will admit that the app that I use on the Smart Samsung TV can be clunky at times(compared to major streaming services anyway) but it has improved a lot over the years. I do watch at least some of the weekly shows at any given time(depending on the content each season) I'm curious since ya'll bought Crunchyroll are ya'll going to be able to platform their dubs eventually?
