Completely fair. Unexpected shift in the setting and even the animation studio change is a huge "I selected the right show, right?" moment.

That's the point though, the kids and Warriors have been brainwashed their whole lives into hating people they know nothing about. It doesn't completely absolve them of their guilt, but they are also products of their environment. At least Reiner has felt immense remorse about everything and was about ready to end his own life.
