I just fast forward through her and Treebeard most of the time. Probably feel that way because everyone else is so iconic in their roles by comparison.

The other children actors were okay, but nothing great. The other adult cast members were absolutely perfect.

Angelina Jolie in Gone In 60 Seconds


As an aside, Mark Wahlberg is absolutely not miscast in The Happening. He is supposed to be miscast. The Happening is supposed to be ridiculous, it's supposed to be over the top, and you're supposed to laugh at it. It is a big budget B-Movie. It's the Tremors movies or Gremlins 2 with a more humorous bent.

I don't know how anyone can watch these clips and not laugh and enjoy it. It is my second favorite Shyamalan movie behind the Sixth Sense and having rewatched Sixth Sense somewhat recently, The Happening is a better repeat watch.

Both miscast and I think he's a terrible actor.
  • He's short, Harry is tall (granted, not possible to know at 10 yrs old)
  • His eyes are blue and Harry's are green.
  • He is just bad... like uncomfortable to watch level bad.

Compare his casting to Alan Rickman or Maggie Smith. I mean, you basically name the adult actor in that film, and I would say it was perfectly cast. I give them a pass on Dumbledore because their original actor was great, and he passed away.

So you compare the acting chops of an 11 year old to Maggie Smith?


Also JK Rowling insisted in the casting of the movie that Harry and his mother have the same eye color.
It did not have to be green. Them being the same was what was important

The initial actor they had playing Daario in Game of Thrones. Might have also been the way they wrote him for the show, but did not get the dashing mercenary vibe from him at all. Second guy was much better.

Adrian Brody as the badass spec ops guy in Predators. He just doesn't fit that role.

Denise Richards as a scientist in The World is Not Enough

In the same vein as John Wayne as Gengis Khan, Mickey Rooney in Breakfast at Tiffany's

The character Harry Potter is bland. JK wrote him as nearly a blank personality as it makes it easier for most readers to relate to. He's basically a window to the reader. He's a not a Mary Sue, but his character flaws are basic human nature, he can be arrogant and prideful... that's about it. Throughout most of the books hes just reacting to circumstances anyway so his character traits never come up.

I'm not sure I would put this on Daniel Radcliffe, he was largely just playing the character as it was written.

Also, the baby who played Harry Potter in the first one was pretty pitiful. Learn your line!

I disagree on the Jared Leto as Joker being miscast. The character was misconceived, but Leto played Juggalo-Joker competently. Contra that with Jesse Eisenberg as Lex Luthor - that iteration of Lex Luthor was similarly misconceived from the word jump, but Eisenberg didn't even play a good new money tech billionaire Zuckerberg-Luthor; he played an awkward giggling fool.

Clooney played George Clooney, dressed up as Batman. But that whole movie was a train wreck. Honestly, I think Arnold was the most convincing actor in that film.
