It won't matter for anyone else now that the entire cookout will be in jury.

Where is a Maggie and her Cappy?

A King Kaysar?

A James the Veto King?

The show is too far gone. I shed a tear.

Will Thursday's eviction mean everyone after that is on jury?

Depends on if there is a battle back.

Which I doubt. They've given way too much inside info to contestants in their interviews after eviction

Frenchie is already doing Cameo. So the previously evicted hg's seem to have all gone home. My guess is if there's a battle back it'll be among jury members

I agree that there probably isn't a battle back but Frenchie may have opted out of it if there was one.

There's definitely not one for people who have been evicted so far. Julie excitedly told Whitney about the Royal Flush alliance!

During veto comp Sarah Beth took a $5,000 prize in lieu of taking POV. Royal Flush members are not amused and want to send her home

Britini has the POV, Sarah Beth crying in Kyland's arms worried about how the group will react when Christian is put on the block on Monday

My interest in this season has plummeted in the last week.

Not sure why. I still think the cast is the best it's been in a while. The shows are much less interesting than the feeds, but even the feeds aren't that interesting anymore.

How could anyone enjoy the feeds with all the censorship

Looks like we might get some drama...

Britini on POV and it sounds like DX is going to throw up Christian, who will likely be voted out over Sarah Beth.

At least it's a big target, even if he's being manipulated by the cookout to do their dirty work. Same as Christian last week, should have made his own moves.

And hopefully this week raises eyebrows within the house as the royal flush is seemingly imploding for no reason

Edit to add: how many times are we going to have to hear britini yell let's go for finally winning something

This is my first season of Big Brother. Not to rain on anyone's parade, but... I don't really like it.

There's something cheesy / low budget about the opening sequence and the announcer guy. And first few episodes, everyone's confessionals were so corny and poorly acted (Frenchie in particular). "AWW MAN! This guy just went and blew up my hole spot!!!" But my biggest annoyance of all is the constant shout outs to home.

I like to imagine another show like Survivor or something being like this. The music is all dramatic, they go up to do their vote, and then they look at the camera and go "Peace out A-Town! I love you mom, dad, hug the dogs and cats for me, PEEEEEEEEEEEEACE!"

Curious if these annoyances are shared by veteran fans or not. Maybe they're embraced as part of the fun after 23 seasons.

the cheesy narrator and opening credits is just baked in at this point...as are the fake "wow I got my key I'm going to be on the show!" segments.

Over the years production now uses the DR sessions more to create characters for segments of the taped shows. So we get more DR sessions of people leaning into their background and stereotyped character and unfortunately that means less coverage of natural thoughts in the DR.

Also, it kills the opportunity for organic commentary superstars like Britney Haynes to form.

Combine that with the era of social media/fame and many HG's are more willing to play production's game.

Finally, this season so far has sucked imo. Good on the cookout for controlling the game like they have but so far it's a snoozer.

Agreed Bunk. I just can't get into it this year. I thought the cast had some potential but it's basically been a flop to me. They all seem to have a decent idea of what they're doing but there's just no action. I agree with whoever made the point that the game is broken with the house target every week. Everyone knows what's going to happen on the Sunday show, and they didn't even hide it last week.

Started watching back in season 18. It seems boring and repetitive now. I keep hoping for an all out back stabbing season, but it's all just bleh now.

Pretty much stopped watching and just come here to see if anything exciting is happening

This has been the first good week of the season but it's not going to matter. Cookout is going to sail after this week. They pretty much have the numbers no matter what going forward. Game meta is broken.

Some cracks are forming in the cookout in my opinion. And if a few are starting to catch on to their gig it might not make it too much longer. That would add some excitement hopefully.

Here's what I do not understand about this season: They are so focused on getting out certain players and completely ignoring the fact that it makes them the 'next big target.

DX is clearly guilty of that this week.
Christian gets rid of.. Whitney? wtf? she was not going to win *****

Christian made the comment that his week went "as planned" by getting rid of Whitney. I told my wife that for such a strong competitor that was a really weak move to hang his hat on. Whitney was not a threat to Christian in any way, shape, or form. He had an opportunity to do whatever he wanted, but he listened to his alliances and followed blindly. He doesn't deserve to win in my opinion just because of that passive of an HOH.

Honestly though....who are threats in the house even? Usually you have 3-4 extreme comp beasts in the house and then a few smarter maybe nerdy types. This year didnt follow that usual architype and because it has more well rounded folks it then leads to not much excitement...OG BB had well rounded players but they were more willing to go out on a limb and make big moves, hurt peoples feelings etc.

Not having a game where people are willing to be hated and backstab people and cut throats to win...is what is killing the game. But its expected with all the social media that can cancel you and being a disliked player ruins your ability to make money after the show as well.

This. What is missing in this game the last few seasons is this type of people. I know it is a Survivor reference but one of my favorite players of all time was Russell Hanz because he wasn't afraid to play the villain. He made it to the final twice (he didn't win due to bitter jury) but I felt his game play worked as it got him to the end. Everyone now is so worried about the twitter mob it makes the game sooo boring. This season just like the last few a big alliance is formed, pick off the stragglers that aren't in it then the game kind of starts but there was already a hierarchy set up in the big alliance that it is all just unanimous voting til the end. No drama, no suspense. No real true blindsides.

So what can be done to shake up the meta and encourage a more active/individual style of gameplay?

Find people who have never seen the show to play.

Honestly, i'm not sure..social media and its (ridiculous) influence might have done permanent damage to this style of show...but let's see...

  • Continued improvement with casting. I agree this year does seem refreshing at least from that standpoint
  • Less influence from production in DR sessions
  • No teams
  • Twists that involve shaking up the structure of the game to force independent/chances...A huge backstab chance that gives you 4 weeks of safety, a POV comp then twist that either no POV will be used that week or the POV has to be used that week
  • Keep the HG's as off balance as possible

For the past 3-4 seasons "expect the unexpected" has become a joke of a motto.

What they should do is implement a year like the Aussies used to do where no one could talk about who they were voting for. If you did get caught talking about who you were voting for, you got a penalty vote against you. It's been a while since I watched one of their seasons, but the season where Tim won was one of the most fun seasons of any show I've watched. They also made you vote in front of everyone else in a soundproof, but clear, tube. They also had to give a very clear explanation of why they were voting for that person.

Russell lost because he was a complete *******. Part of winning games like Survivor and Big Brother is voting people out and then convincing them to give you the prize. You can blindside and back stab all you want, you just can't be a jerk while doing it.

As for ways to change the game, first is get rid of teams. They're pointless. Second, make everyone a jury member from the start. People try to keep a target off themselves early by "doing what the house wants," and you end up with a bunch of unanimous votes early on because they're all jus trying to make jury. And I agree there needs to be some big risk/reward prizes. The one problem I can see is that production would likely give it to someone who's popular in the game and good for ratings.
