Does anyone else think it's...interesting....that his girlfriend has a striking similarity to Deb? I have to think the writers did that on purpose.

Really surprised he went for the kill that fast. I thought Matt was going to be that unlikeable character who Dexter would be tempted to kill but he'd fight off the urge and all that because he didnt want to go back to his past self.

Will be interesting to see how this plays out and how he hides the evidence, with him living in a small town where everyone knows everything and this dude was clearly well known. Seems like a boneheaded move to kill him that fast without doing his due diligence but then again it was more of an impromptu kill.

I sure hope this season turns out to be good.

My wife and I were calling her Eskimo Deb

It honestly makes no sense now that I think about it. He's waited all this time and that ******bag Matt is the reason he breaks everything? Because he killed his precious deer friend? None of it was planned, none of it made sense. He just decided to snap and start murdering in a small town? It's ****ing stupid.

Further, why would he now decide to stay in this town? Because he has a girlfriend and a job selling guns? It all makes no sense at all.

Episode 2 spoilers.

I thought this was a good episode. The Harrison/Dexter story arc will definitely be interesting. I do think Harrison is hiding something. One interesting theory I saw on reddit is that he knows the truth about Dexter and just isn't telling him yet. If Hannah McKay thought Dexter was dead, what was stopping her from telling Harrison? Another theory is that Harrison has a dark passenger of his own. (interesting fan theory: the sketches of people in his notebook could have been his "blood slides").

I personally hope that is not the case, as having Harrison become the new Dexter and Dexter becoming the new Harry just feels like lazy writing. I also thought it felt lazy of them to kill off Hannah McKay with the whole pancreatic cancer spiel. Maybe the actress wasn't available for this show? But at least it gives an explanation of why Harrison sought Dexter out..

I can't get over how dumb it was for Dexter to kill a dude who is the son of a well-known and powerful figure in Iron Lake (who Dexter appears to know). Waaaayyyy too high profile of a kill in such a small town. But i guess that's the point--that Dexter is sloppy at this now.

I do think that Clancy Brown's character is the guy who locked the girl in the motel room and was watching her. Gave off Saw vibes for sure.

The actress who plays Hannah is tied up filming Handmaid's Tale. So makes sense that they'd kill her off in an easy way. Unless they brought in another actress to play the role.

Hannah and their relationship was a major beatdown and one of the main reasons the original series limped to the finish line. Hot, but I'm glad she isn't a part of this. That's a positive change

For all we know, Harrison killed Hannah and that's what started his cross country killing spree on his way to Dexter. I mean, the kid turned to drugs at what? 12? Perhaps it was done to hide the shame of killing Hannah in Buenos Aires. He's not exactly a reliable source. Wouldn't it make more sense that Hannah would have sought him out somehow if she was in a slow decline due to cancer. Further, Harrison would have had opportunity and reason to exact revenge on the bad foster homes he apparently was in as well.

I wanted to like it more. Thought it was okay.

But the flag waving virtue-signaling for character selection is painfully obvious.

Assistant director and casting director got the checklist.

Gay guy (more flamboyant than not) ? CHECK!
Wheel chair character? CHECK!
Spoiled Cartoonishly Evil Male? CHECK!

Be on the look out next few episodes for:

Sympathetic good-hearted trans.
Asian (in any capacity).
Black guy/girl (strangely and affectionately not out of place in small town pacific NW that looks 100% white).

I feel like they presented it as an addict struggling and finally relapsing after facing too much temptation within a short period.

I'm wondering if Harrison killed Hannah after finding the letter. He mentioned he was very angry after reading it, but then he didn't elaborate.

I think the overall storyline is satisfactory and good.

I think Debs scenes are too over the top and she's pretty damn annoying.

Glad Hannah is not part of this show.

I think Deb being annoying is the point though. She's the loud crazy voice in his head begging him to not go back to his old ways because he keeps indirectly killing those close to him.

What's even weirder is he appeared to miss the black characters. Racist confirmed

They are in upstate New York. He went to Oregon in the finale, but at some point moved to New York. Harrison actually mentioned this about his quest to find Dexter.

I must have missed the change of locale to New York but that would explain the Seneca tribe, which didn't sound correct for NW.

I also thought was cool that the Seneca chief that was pissed off about the deer is the guy who played the Comanche in the casino scene in Hell or High Water.

Same here. The entire time I've been thinking they are in the NW somewhere.

This episode was okay. It's very clear now that Dexter f-ed up badly by killing Matt. It's also clear that Kurt is the guy who locked the girl in the room and then sniped her. This is also obvious to anyone who followed the news on this show before it premiered because Clancy Brown was advertised as the villain in the series.

What was really weird about this episode was the end where Kurt drunkenly tells Jim that he facetimed with Matt. This could be an outright lie rather than a delusion because he didn't want authorities to find his victim(s).

I am wondering how the story with the nerdy kid at the high school is going to go. Something is up with Harrison for sure.

Feels like a kid ripe for a mass Columbine type event? Maybe he's trying to pull Harrison in?

I'm enjoying the new show so far. It's not phenomenal but its entertaining enough to keep watching.

Was Harrison displaying his unguided code or is he evil as well?
Tibbers

I think he is like an upgraded Dexter. He for sure knew what he was doing and acted out after listening to the podcast about the Trinity killer. I think it reinforces the theory that he also killed Hannah because well, she's a killer too. The FBI search for Matt's gun in episode 1 could be to interject the idea of the FBI coming for Harrison now that he is potentially on the radar after his run-in with Elliot.

Harrison is a codeless killer.
