We're taking the family. I'm sure the kids will love it.

What does that mean?

It means that, in his opinion, the movie is a pure money-grab that feels too small for the big screen.

My kids love the Toy Story movies and Toy Story Land and can't seem to figure out what this movie is nor want to see it.

I hate to beat a dead horse, but it seems like a weird idea for a movie. The true-life story of a space ranger who then becomes a toy sold on earth, but the guy who has done the voice of the character since the mid 1990s doesn't get to voice the character now.

If it's successful will it be followed by

SHERIFF - the story of Woody the Cowboy, but voiced by Chris Pratt

how about

SLINK - the origin story of Slinky Dog, voiced by Clint Eastwood

Not this again...

Thanks. Seems like he should've said what you said, instead of using his special Hollywood insider code language.

Our 12-year-old saw it with a friend last night. They both gave it a solid "meh" (direct quote). Maybe for younger kids it is better. He said the animation was great but he did not care for the plot.

But at least there's a gay character in the movie. So brave.

We saw it. Kids enjoyed it I think. I felt like visually it was incredible, story was mostly a miss though.

Pixar has historically produced films that are loved by kids and have enough heart and wit to keep parents and even teens engaged, if not flat out love them too.

This was not one of them. It wasn't terrible. It wasn't good either. The plot is very tedious. We were just ready for it to be over. As someone noted above, a critic was basically saying it was a money grab and should have been on D+. I think a lot of parents will pull their kids to this (we did at the wife's behest) out of Toy Story nostalgia and it essentially had almost nothing at all to do with Toy Story.

The cat was by far the best part.

I mean Slinks voice has already changed once considering Jim Varney died….

Predictably, the politics board is upset that there's a gay character in the movie. That board is insufferable.

For those that want to know the details in order to judge on if you want to take your kids, etc., see spoiler tag below (only minor movie spoilers)

a female space ranger is gay, there's probably a 2-3 minute montage where she goes through all the life events with her - they say they got married, they have a kid, and I think there's a quick kiss between the two of them. It's not made up to be a big deal, it's intentionally made to seem 100% normal and I think a lot of kids won't even notice it.

Aren't there gays in real life? I just don't get the horror.

Did this kid get upset one time and then go on a multiversal tour through star shaped portals because if so…it would lead to a hell of a crossover

But that woman did say she had a thing for red heads. And no one says that about male gingers

Got to see this on Thursday on the Disney fantasy. Sox definitely stole the show. I kind of rolled my eyes with the quick gay scene/reference. Just annoys me that I not only have to explain the birds and the bees, but also the birds and the birds to my kids here in a few years.

Other than that, it felt like the Star Wars writers maybe needed something to do, so they helped out on this one.

My wife and I are on the same page, we liked Disney better when it was just Disney. Not all the other stuff it has today.

One of the most forgetful Pixar movies I've ever seen….right there with the kind dinasour or whatever movie that was with the cave child and cars 2

The gay addition honestly played out like a, "hey we acknowledge gays exist and that's ok but adds nothing to the story" and crap like that aggravates me…..if it adds to the story then great then there's a point to it…..

But this was like the random kiss in the rise of skywalker stretched out to a 5 minute runtime….

I can imagine the TV ads… AUDIENCES ARE GOING WILD FOR DISNEY PIXAR'S LIGHTYEAR! [Cue action scene with large text overlay - "We saw it. Kids enjoyed it I think"]
