Judy continues to have the best lines. Her five minute diatribe at the restaurant last year when she wanted BJ back was the highlight of the season, and the dad gay thing is the highlight this year so far.

Her character "Bean Dip" on Comedy Bang Bang makes me laugh really hard, and I keep hearing Bean Dip come through on this show every now and then. Her delivery is always great.oragator said:

The first episode was decent enough, if not a bit too long - 50 minutes is just too much for something like this, IMO - but yeah, in agreement that the second episode was hilarious.
I don't know why, but the concept of Zion's Landing cracks me up so much.
Overall, I'm just really loving what they're setting up this season.

The matter of factness of Jesse's explanation was great. I'm really worried about what they're going to eventually do with Kelvin and Keefe's "relationship."10Aggie10 said:

The Fancy Nancy's gravy dispenser.
BJ appearing from behind that wall (and yes, the rollerblading).
Judy's overall attitude and the sh*t she says when she's pissed.
Laughed so much at all of that and more.

Also, it really is crazy how much this show is basically just Succession. The character dynamics are all almost identical.
Fancy Nancy being straight up chick fila is pretty awesome. Judy and BJ both need awards this year.

The storyline of Eli maybe not being who we thought he was is unexpected and really fun so far.
I was curious as to what they were going to use to create the madness this year and that wasn't even on my radar. Very excited with it as well.
Much respect to Danny McBride for creating a show where he doesn't get all the jokes. This show is approaching Arrested Development level heights for me in terms of incredible ensemble comedy cast.
He did something similar with Vice Principals. Gamby had his moments, but Goggins' character in that + the principal, etc. all had stronger and funnier lines imo. And I think it was the connection on that set with Edi Patterson (Judy) that led to her having a bigger creative role in Gemstones
I really need to watch that, and go back and finish Eastbound and Down. they both came out when my kids were little which made it utterly pointless to try to watch television at all.Bunk Moreland said:

The lead pastor of the church I mentioned on the first page (the one with the summer camp for pastors that rape and do other bad things) always talks about his rebellious youth and trouble with the cops....turns out he TP'd a house and the cops took him to the station before they called his parents.
There's so much genius in this show.
The most normal relatable character on the whole show is Eli, the TV preacher.
The gravy dispenser was just awesome.
The whodunnit they have set up will be fun.
Kelvin's storyline is just bizarrely interesting.
Judy is just perfectly crazy.
BJ and his rollerblading? And he gets baptized next week.
And I think we get Baby Billie soon too.

The few scenes we have seen in the previews of BJ's baptism are really building expectations for this week.
I'm looking forward to Baby Billy of Freeman's Gap coming back
