Stryper still doing their thing. Very under appreciated group.

Digging tunnels- go see Weird Al. I've seen him twice recently and both times were fantastic. No lie.

Edit: although I just looked at his set list for this tour and they are more obscure songs so not sure if that's everybody's bag. Proceed with caution.

Jjust noticed Coolio was hittin spots in TX last week on a 'i love the 90s tour' (presumably with other artists of his caliber)

Man, playing the 'Frio' out in Cypress TX on Mueschke?
Sounds like a rough fall from the top.

hah hoobatsank lit and alien ant farm. That ain't half bad lol. It's like going to a bar to hear a cover band play my own worst enemy, but it's the actual band!

But I'm dying at the meet and Greet.. only $125! Just a $80 premium over the ticket itself lol.

I feel those 3 bands could easily hit a real tour circuit.. HOB, theaters, etc. But looking at the tour.. new braunfels, odessa, christoval, goliad. .WTF!

Who in the **** tours to Christoval TX. I had to look that one up. Goliad too.

Three bands, three hits, to use that term very loosely. I doubt HOB books one hit wonders unless the hit is something like Ice Ice Baby.

House of Blues is a 4th or 5th tier venue in most cities now -- they absolutely book bands like that.

those 3 bands have 20 million records sold.

They have a HOB stop as it turns out.

I feel like crawling in the dark, running away, and miserable were both pretty prevalent on radio.

Yeah. HOB used to be the place to go for big concerts. Other than going to see Randy Rogers/Wade Bowen a couple months ago, I can't think of the last time they had someone worth going to see.

Speaking of House Of Blues, was there last night for Metric, who always kills it, and Secret Machines opening. Great show! Not my favorite venue though.

Saw Helmet for their 30th Anniversary of Betty several years ago at Paper Tiger in SA. It was Paige Hamilton and a cast of 30-yr olds at that time too. They ran through Betty without breaks and when Hamilton finally spoke he spent the time griping about his ex-wife.

Arctic Monkeys announcement.

No Houston date is BS. Come on boys!!! There is still time, but if they don't announce I'll definitely have to make the trips to Austin for this show. Long way away though. Almost a year!

Got back from Ohana Festival last night. What a trip. Mike Campbell and the Dirty Knobs were phenomenal. Billy Strings had the whole band with him even though the festival site said last week that it would be a solo show.

Jack White blew my head off for the first time. And then Vedder and the Earthlings opened with Rearview Mirror which brought tears to the eyes. That's definitely one of the single best festival days of my life. The only negative was the beer lines being about as long as the earlier set lengths.

My buddy that's the new guitarist for the Knobs said he watched Mike Campbell go up to Billy and introduced himself by saying "You sure play a lot of notes, man". Billy replied "Well they only gave me 45 minutes so I had to get them all in" and Mike replied "I like you, kid". Billy turned 30 today. Can't wait for Stubb's this Thursday and next Thursday.

<<<<My leader and friend of 20 years, the great Chris Holt that saved the Knobs.

*I only took a couple of these photos but I wish I'd have been able to take them all.

Saw Jelly Roll and Shinedown at Cynthia Woods on Saturday. Jelly Roll put on a great show. The audio sucked ass for Shinedown. It was almost like half the speakers weren't on, so they just turned the other ones up to try to make up for it. When I saw them 3 years ago they sounded great. For that matter, 5 Finger Death Punch, Megadeth, Evanescence, and Korn all sounded great just a few weeks ago.

Chris just finished a 4 hour straight Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers one man band show in memory of the 5th anniversary of Tom passing that was mind blowing. Mike Campbell got a real gem.

How was this Pumpkins and Jane's show? Wanted to go but no way I had the energy after Ohana.

And I'm dying to see that Morcheeba show but can't. "Big Calm" is a top 20 album all time for me. Enjoy!

I watched several of the songs on the stream, he is so great! Loved it! "Bar owners hate me" haha.

How was this Pumpkins and Jane's show? Wanted to go but no way I had the energy after Ohana.

I didn't end up getting to go because an offer came in on my dad's house (that I'm selling) and I ended up spending the evening dealing with that. Sucks, bass player in my band went and said it was a big rock show. Hate I missed it, but have seen both bands before, though I really wanted to see Jane's with Avery back on bass!

And I'm dying to see that Morcheeba show but can't. "Big Calm" is a top 20 album all time for me. Enjoy!

Oh man, Big Calm was absolutely a game changer for me, introduced me to a whole new world of music I was ignorant of at the time (~2001 or so). I've probably listened to that record 1000 times. Turned into a big fan of Morcheeba, and this will be my first time to ever see them, cannot wait!!! Love their latest record too, it's great.

Billy Strings was incredible in Austin last night. His/their first ever show at Stubb's and it was the most packed I've ever seen it. Spent the entire first set about 10th row. Then set break hit and we turned around to see a massive crowd behind us.

Went to a beer line and couldn't even get half way back to the middle. I'd also never seen the overhanging tarp used as a projector screen which was really cool and the lights were killer. These boys are something else and I can't wait to do it again next Thursday. I'm just afraid it won't be long before they are having to play large scale arenas.
