How long do you want to ignore this user?
Well tonight's episode is way too damn intense for me right before bed. Good thing I've got the Gemstone's right after to lighten the mood.

Those first 18 minutes, oh my gosh! Was tough to watch as Rue is at her lowest but goes further throughout the episode.

Give Zendaya her second Emmy for this episode.

One of the most intense episodes of television I've ever seen. Holy crap.

And yeah, go ahead and give Zendaya the Emmy right now. It's a done deal at this point. Just incredible.

Also, while the creepy drug dealer woman was giving Rue morphine, did anyone else notice Jesse Plemons in the photograph under her TV? It's a photo of him and a woman, around his same age, next to a photo of what looks to be them as kids, and I'm pretty sure their her kids. They held on that shot for a long time, so I wonder if we're going to see him in a future episode or a flashback or something? So random.

Good catch. I didn't even notice that. I was too distracted thinking the drug dealer lady was going to kill Rue in the tub.

When Rue's mom slapped her, man I cheered so much. Then Rue dropped the bomb about Cassie and Nate, I was like damn. The whole episode from start to finish was a rollercoaster from hell.

Meh. Opening was great and intense, but then it turned into an hour and when it ended, I was thinking, wait this episode is already over??! It was good, but it went by so fast it didnt advance any of the story.

- Jules ratted Rue out.
- $10K worth of drugs that Rue owed to Laurie was flushed down the toilet, under the threat of Rue being kidnapped and sold into prostitution by Laurie, if not worse.
- Rue ended her relationship with Jules, a relationship that has served as the backbone of the series since 2019.
- Rue hit rock bottom in ways she never has before, admitting multiple times to her mother and sister that she wants to kill herself, and insulting them like never before in the process.
- Rue dropped the Cassie/Nate bomb in front of Maddy, irrevocably destroying that friendship as well, sending events in motion that will no doubt have huge consequences in the final three episodes (remember, Maddy still has the disk with Nate's dad and Jules).
- Rue tried to steal from Fez, to the point where Fez had to drag Rue out of his apartment kicking and screaming, at the very least putting a newfound strain on their relationship.
- Rue is almost assuredly now in even deeper sh*t with Laurie after escaping her apartment.
- And it's safe to say no one in this episode will likely ever lie for Rue or give her drugs again.

In other words, literally the entire dynamic of the show changed this episode and will now be completely different going forward. To the point where multiple season-and-a-half long relationships are now up in smoke. In fact, the main thought going through my head when the credits rolled was basically, "Holy sh*t this episode just advanced the story like never before, completely making up for the water treading of the past couple episodes."

I think Rue was already about to get sold into sex slavery by Laurie, so I don't think she could be any deeper than she already was. That was what Laurie told her upfront - you don't pay me and I'll just sell you into sex slavery and get my money back
TCTTS

But you don't think Laurie will still send people after her? Either way, I agree that she was about to try and sell her.

I'm just saying there isn't a deeper level of ***** She was already neck deep and escaping bought her time.

this is great...I guess that will be Laurie plus Jesse Plemons as our next background story opening montage...and your prediction of someone close to Rue dying is right on the money at this point...Fez, Ash, Jules, Elliott or Mom/Sister? Fez has to still be the clubhouse leader (no thumbs up emoji for that though...big loss to the show)

Yes, escaping bought her time, but before Rue showed back up to Laurie's in this episode, Laurie had at least given Rue a chance and the benefit of the doubt. Now, that chance is completely blown, and Laurie knows exactly who she's dealing with in Rue. So Laurie is almost assuredly going to send her goons not only after not Rue, but Fez as well, if only to get to Rue. So Rue is absolutely in a deeper level of sh*t than she was before, because she A) blew what little chance she had, and B) has likely involved Fez now too. In fact, escaping probably made it worse for everyone, unless Rue somehow delivers the remaining $8K in the next 24 hours or so, which, by the looks of next week's episode, doesn't seem likely.

Yeah, I'm curious to know if Plemons is Laurie's ex-husband, and that's a younger Laurie in that photo with him, with a photo of their two young kids next to it - or - if both photos are of her two kids, and Plemons is the grown up version of her son. The former means a likely imminent flashback/cold open with Plemons, whereas the latter means that Plemons could show up in the present-day timeline.

Either way, it felt purposeful that Laurie mentioned her family and her history to Rue.

Fez will go down.

Remember when the drug dealer lady asked Fez if he trusted Rue with her life a couple of episodes ago?? Then pause for dramatics, foreshadowing, and he then slowly said yes.

I agree with others, last night's episode was intense and the rest of the season is set up for some fireworks

Such an intense episode. Really curious to see how it all plays out. I think Laurie ends up dead or ratted out, Rue ends up in rehab, Fez is in jail, Cal is dead by suicide after the tape comes up.

I said the exact same thing about that exact same line. I really hope we're wrong, but I'm afraid we won't be.

I know you mentioned a few weeks back someone may die but didn't want to believe it but after yesterday episode I'm starting to believe it. Thinking it may be Fez since he brought her to Laurie and said he trusts Rue with his life.

I still can't get over Zendaya performance in the episode. Social media seems to agree by saying give her all the awards.
TCTTS

I could be wrong, but at this point I think Laurie goes scorched earth (in her own, subdued Laurie way) and that yeah, in order to get to Rue, she goes to/uses Fez in some way, since, like you said, he's the one who brought Rue to her. And then Fez dies in some kind of conflict, either trying to protect Rue, or in attempt to get the money to pay Laurie back on Rue's behalf.

Remember, there was also that random scene in last week's episode where the other Laurie-connected drug dealer (with the girlfriend living with Fez) comes to Fez and we see them have a stressful convo but don't hear what's said. Maybe he was telling Fez about the deal Laurie and Rue cut, and Fez at least knows now?

Either way, I think this is all after some kind of big Laurie flashback/cold open, in one of the next three episodes, that also involves her ex, played by Jesse Plemons, underlining that there's still a big piece of the Laurie story left to tell in the present.

I really, really hope I'm wrong, as the show wouldn't be the same without Fez going forward. But I also don't think we can keep watching Rue-the-addict, at least to this degree, for a third season in a row without that getting stale. I'm not saying she won't still struggle, but something needs to change, and maybe the show needs to lose Fez in order to for Rue to go down whatever the new path is.

My only other Hail Mary guess is that Plemons is Laurie's son, not her ex, and that Fez/Rue somehow find him in the present-day timeline and use him in some way to sway/blackmail Laurie to not kill either of them.

Good point. I do remember watching that 2 episodes ago and was like what's that about since the scene was like 3-5 minutes if not shorter without giving much away.

Seriously, though, curious to see if HBO releases their Sunday primetime lineup early this week. Not every year, but in certain past years they've released all Super Bowl Sunday night episodes on the Friday a couple days before. And I think it's usually been a surprise, last-minute announcement. So come Thursday or Friday maybe we'll hear something...

That is definitely her Emmy bit on that one. I feel like this season has been hit or miss in parts but that episode was edge of the seat the entire time and I was pissed when it went to black and was over.

Was really hoping we'd get a new episode drop yesterday or today but alas, no dice.

Same. HBO used to do it every year and I don't know why they've stopped. Seems like the last thing you'd want to do is air your entire primetime slate against the Super Bowl, especially if one of those episodes is answering a cliffhanger of sorts. I guess maybe the streaming apps changed all that.

Kind of a random breather of an episode, but maybe one of my favorites of the series? Any episode with this much Ali and Ali wisdom is always great. Overall, though, it just had a little bit of everything I like about this show. I'm also admittedly a sucker for Stand by Me (the song more so than the movie), and I thought that was such a great sequence.

That said, while there was definitely a sense of everyone seemingly embracing their fates, both good and bad, getting a certain amount of closure, etc, this felt like the calm before storm, and it really does look as if Fez is toast, especially if watched the preview for next week. In heartbreaking fashion too. But maybe that's just a misdirect?

Either way, these final two episodes should be pretty crazy.

I'm thinking Fez doesnt die but doesnt make the play because of that tweaker dude and the info he gave to the police. I do think his boy Ashtray and that tweaker girl thats been living with them get knocked off somehow and Fez gets locked up.

I thought the sequence with Nate/Maddy/Jules and the DVD was done pretty well. The gun scene is Maddy's bedroom was pretty intense.

Kinda glad Righteous Gemstones follows this one to give me a few laughs before bed.
