It certainly doesn't deliver on the "Justified" expectations, and I even think sticking Raylan Givens into the middle of it hurts the "City Primeval" story line.

There is like two episodes left? The romance this season, which I think could have been left out, felt forced and unwarranted. Frankly, the best interaction we have had of Raylan of old this season was his dealing with the Armenians. At least IMO. I'm still holding out some hope but I think they added probably too many story lines for Raylan to get tied up in to really resolved well imo.
I am only 2 episodes so avoiding this thread for now, but OMG could they have casted a more annoying person to play Rylans daughter????!!! That voice has to be a put-on, right? But if it is why would the showrunners want that?? And if it is not why would they cast her??

It's his real life daughter who is playing the kid, and she is not very good. I'm sticking with it, but the series has been very average at best. The scenes without Timothy O, are boring.91_Aggie said:

Let's be honest, most of the scenes without Raylan are Mansell walking around in a kimono and underwear. The show is sorely missing scenes with Raylon's funny quips and trading jabs with interesting side characters. There's nothing interesting at stake. The romance came out of nowhere. Mansel is a very shallow character.

The problem with Mansel is none of his actions make any sense except that someone apparently thought it would look cool on TV. His first scene where he stole a car and then ditched it (while leaving behind copious amounts of evidence) made no sense. Tracking down Raylan's daughter and antagonizing Raylan (a guy he had barely met and had no reason to fixate on) made no sense. The way he went after the judge made no sense. His too cool for school walking around in a robe and tighty whiteys makes no sense.

Yeah I was sorry to see Sweety go. Story is picking up. You have to think that Raylan will draw on Mansell soon.
What happened to worrying about the Albanians? Did I miss the closure on their threat?
This episode was definitely on the better end of the season so far.
Sweety was one of the actual highlights of this season, so it's sad he's gone.

I'm actually enjoying the show although Raylan with the overweight, black attorney feels forced. He's had nothing but smokeshows in the original, but we're supposed to believe he suddenly has a craving for middle-aged fat women?
Update: finished all 6 seasons of the original. Damn. Starting Primeval this weekend.
Those 6 seasons are the most entertaining tv I've ever seen. Primeval not on that level but worth a watch if you need more Raylan.

This is where the show made a fatal first step. In the first episode, they had the two guys try to kidnap and do God knows what to Raylan's daughter and the frumpy, UGLY attorney actually gets the guys off (at least on the stuff that occurred with Raylan) and we're supposed to care about her going forward???13B said:

So dumb, they shot themselves in the foot in the first quarter. Yes, I'll watch the finale and hope it's decent but the show is a sad shell of it's former self.
Also, all the hoopla around the painting....and for what? She sells it for nothing. Is that that payoff for that narrative thread? Whatever.
I just have to assume they cherry picked what they liked from Leonard's novel, shoe-horned Raylan into it, and hoped that would be enough to satisfy audiences.
Between this and Full Circle, Olyphant's batting average has taken a big hit.
