Caught up to the latest episode. Oddly, as excited as I was for the series when it was announced and the first couple of episodes I kind of just want it to be finished now. I just don't know how they're going to adequately resolve everything.

The last 15 minutes were the only redeemable part of the whole f'ing thing!

certainly the only part that was justified. everyone involved with the original that came back to produce this one should be ashamed.

So the sequel they weren't going to do is set up for season 2 of the reboot.

This whole show was way off the rails vs the book. The book was ok and trying to force it under a givens story line didn't work in my opinion

Right! If they were going to bring back the original Justified characters anyways, they should've just made another season of Justified. That's what everyone wanted to see. The last 10 minutes were more interesting than the other 99% of the season.

They spent too much time on the father/daughter angle.

Not enough time developing tension between Clement and Raylon (as was done with Raylon and Boyd).
Ironically, when Clement and Raylon shared the screen togther, the show had some of its better moments, IMO.

The relationship between Raylon and the attorney wasn't believable to me -- at all.

If they were committed to "going there" with Boyd in the last 15 minutes ... how could you not have a "direct" moment between Boyd and Raylon. An answered phone call? A texted image that says "I'm out." Something that would have honored the tension and relationship between the series' two-most important characters.

It wasn't a waste of time -- but it could have been so much better.
Be more concerned with your character than with your reputation. Your character is what you really are while your reputation is merely what others think you are.

Could have been so much better. Boyd gained some weight for this show, or dropped a bunch for his role as Baby Billy in Riotous Gemstones.

Unless this was just a prelude to that..... then I'd be happy.

Boyd Crowder on the loose and Raylan comes out of retirement to hunt him down.

I feel like it just ended. The romance this season was forced and the villain of the season just wasn't engaging. Guess we will see if there's another round with Boyd but I hope it's better than this was.

Limping to the finish line with this dog of a show. Sounds like there might be a slight ray of sunshine to end this crap-fest.

I agree the lst 15 minutes made it acceptable -

Raylan never seemed to smile - like his normal **** eating grin/smirk until the end
The lighting was dark the whole show which did not create suspense - just every thing dark and dim

Makes me want to revisit the original

So did he retire because of the "un-justified" shooting or to spend more time with his daughter?

Great cameos there at the end but yeah, Raylan felt very shoehorned into a story about a different person. Enjoyed it, but it definitely didn't capture the magic of the original series.

While I enjoyed the last 15 minutes, it was a schizophrenic end to the show. And if nothing actually comes of it, I will probably grow to hate it for the tease.

I think he "was" committed to justice until the Detroit fiasco. Now, he realizes that if he would have done the same with boyd he'd be spending more time with his daughter...

I don't think there was a buy-in to do a straight "Justified" sequel. I think there had been various efforts to do "City Primeval" over the years, and grafting in Raylan Givens was what allowed the studio execs to finally sign off on it.

And despite my opinion of re-opening the wonderfully concluded "we dug coal together" storyline, tacking on the 15-minute Boyd sequence was pretty much a freebie. They can use the fan reaction to see if a true series reboot is…justified.

I read that Walton Goggins was actually in the middle of another project, but they managed to squeeze in his scenes over just a couple of days.

I can see the writers, actors, etc. being concerned about not being able to do justice to a full blown reboot, considering how well done the original was. But I can't believe the studio concern was a perceived lack of fan interest in a reboot and that they thought this would get a better reception. My guess is the only reason most people had any interest in City Primeval at all is because it was the closest thing to a Justified reboot that they thought they'd ever get.

Quite frankly, I didn't want a reboot. Not in the form it was of Raylan vs Boyd. That story has been told.

I want a reboot now just to see Winona's face when Raylan's Detroit girlfriend comes down to Florida for a visit.

Amen. Wow, that was just an abomination of a show and a finale (except the last 15 minutes).

I just want to know what were the "good" parts of Primeval that they salvaged. The Albanians? God I hope not as that was a total s**tshow at the end. Oh lets give the f-up Skender, who is on crutches, a weapon to get his "honor" back.

Then when Mansell comes back for his shooting spree, the same stupid Albanian actually felt for his gun that he already had leant to Skender. They saw him on the monitor at least 30 seconds before he made it up to them, they EASILY could have ambushed him.

Such lazy, stupid writing.

Oh and the ugly, frumpy lawyer nobody liked became a judge....wonderful.

Could have swallowed all of it other than the g/f lawyer. Overweight and not attractive. It was so bad, and it was a distraction.

Then to top it off, they send Winona back to rub it in our faces.

But Boyd rides away in a muscle car with a smokeshow after a bj. Message: It's much cooler to be the outlaw.

It's the message that has always worked. No one ever didn't LOVE Billy the Kid. We have a fascination with outlaws, it's as American as apple pie.

Just finished and haven't read the whole the thread, but agree with most on this page.

Totally forgettable series.

The whole lawyer lady hook up was just weird. And not because of race.

Sending peg-leg by himself was lazy. Send him with his buddy and let Cletus VanDamme beat both of them...that would have been fun.

And Willa was terrible.

As you can tell from the name, Justified is one of my favorite shows of all time.

I was thrilled to have Raylan come back for another round. But this show was boring. Stupid villain and the lawyer thing was so bad.

I love Boyd but the original show had the perfect ending to his story with Raylan. I kind of hate that they might ruin that.

A couple more comments. First, Raylan and Clement would never had dug coal together. Also, Clement was a terrible "Justified" villain despite the actor both being named Boyd AND being from Kentucky.

Yeah part of the charm of Justified was the history Raylan had with all of those hillbilly crime lords in Harlan County. Totally missing from City Primeval.

This could have been an interesting show if it stuck to the "Detroit way" vs "Kentucky way" like it did in the first episode.

Lose the ugly lawyer "romance," lose his daughter (who can't act and has an annoying voice - Olyphant nepotism at work) and lose the silly painting narrative which had ZERO payoff.

That would free up time for more interactions with Albanians, local dustups and other stuff which would be WAY more entertaining than what we got.

They never really let Raylan cook....so dumb.

Had the day off, my wife suggests let's watch the new Justified. Watched all 8 episodes in one day, jeez what did I just watch? The daughter was horrid, ugly awful attorney representing all the suspects, hell yes let's have Raylan get involved with her. Albanians are a bad tough crime syndicate, will even torture innocents to obtain information. We make one run at it, get denied them are never brought back until the end. Heck Clemens is stealing a new car everyday and they do t once have eyes on him? Law enforcement knows that Sandy and Clemens are staying in that dudes penthouse, and they don't even warn him? Just let him return home and get killed? It was just a hot jumbled mess, throwing a bunch of nonsensical stuff against the wall and hope having Raykan can make it stick
