I will be watching next week. Shane is hilarious AND his sketch show he does is very funny too.

Is Ben there? I hope he's hammering some beers in the crowd and makes a cameo.

Saw Shane live this weekend in Austin - surprise guest at Rogan's comedy club. Cool as hell to be there and him just pop in and do a set.

His Netflix special is funny as hell if anyone hasn't seen it yet I highly recommend.

Just FYI, it won't be until the 24th. They're taking the next two weekends off.

Agreed. Had never heard of her, so had no idea how it would go, but thought she did a good job.

Forgot that a good amount of the cast also have stand-up careers, and he probably is friendly with/knows a good amount of them.
His sketch show he does, Gilly and Keeves, is very funny. Hoping they get a few sketches in that have more of that vibe to it.

Between him, Sydney Sweeney and Kasey Musgraves, they know how to drive eyeballs from the 25-45 demographic

That was pretty good. I thought the episode last night was pretty bad though. And I say that as a big SG fan.

Surprised his monologue seemed to bomb a bit. Its like they had an audience of people who didn't know his humor

After that, it seems like his firing was best for both him and the show.

Love SG! I liked his monologue and thought it "pushed the envelope" in regards to SNL. Love how that one violinist just gave him the evil eye the whole time!

Sketches were pretty forgettable though in my opinion.

My question is, I saw a Legion of Skanks podcast come on youtube today with Shane Gillis as the guest that was recorded live Monday night- so it was getting his take on hosting SNL, but 15min into watching it, it was removed on YouTube. Wonder if that was LOS that pulled it or something with Youtube?!

IMHO the difference between the success of Nate's episode and the "failure" or underwhelming performance of Shane's boils down to the fact that Nate is non-political in nature. Not balanced or non-biased, but non-political.
Shane tends to lean more towards the "balanced" or moderate style and will poke fun at both sides. This is fine in a general comedy scenario and provides more opportunity for material. However, hosting SNL, he was in a situation where he would like to appear balanced or play to both sides but if you listen to his comedy or podcast regularly, he's far more Pro-trump and center right at this point than the majority of the SNL cast and likely studio audience. This can be seen in the disaster of a cold open sketch where the writers/cast made a point to drag Trump and the republicans that have endorsed him (albeit a promising concept if executed differently) and I'm sure everyone was waiting for Shane to make an entrance as Trump himself. On the LOS snippet that was up on Youtube, they asked him about that cold open and Shane stated he had nothing to do with it and the look on his face gave the impression he was not on board with that sketch but maybe didn't voice the opinion or pushback enough.

There is a reason Gilly & Keeves is far superior to SNL. They aren't beholden to any parent companies concerned about advertisers etc. They only care about making funny sketches.
This is probably the same reason Shane is self producing the Tiiiires comedy for Netflix. Worse comes to worse they still own it and can part ways.
If you're not familiar with the pilot do yourself a favor and look it up on YT.
Thanks & Gig 'Em
