That's my whole point - that defending the logic of a movie doesn't have to be the same thing as defending one's love of the movie.

For instance, as already mentioned, Armageddon is stupid as hell, but I love it regardless. What you won't find me doing, though, is trying to defend its logic. I could not care less what anyone else things about it.

Seemingly everyone in this thread was expressing their opinions about Signs. I only chimed in when someone ELSE called out the people who don't buy the water thing. And instead of just complaining about it, I went into the logic of why I don't think the water thing works. And then you zero in on me, like you always do, for explaining my reasoning in opinionated fashion, as if no one else in the thread was expressing their views. It's always so weird to me when you do that.

The "objective" thing was 100% to rile you up, since I know you get so annoyed by it. But my larger point is that so often when I say, "I don't like this thing and here's why," you seem to get personally offended and explain that we don't have to convince each other of anything, that we all have our opinions, etc. But when literally anyone else says, "I don't like this thing and here's why," in the exact same fashion, it's crickets from you. 15 people can say something negative about a movie, and be just as passionate as me, but whenever I'm one of those 15, you feel the need to tell me and me only that my opinion isn't gospel or whatever. And half the time it's when I'm responding to someone else who's speaking just as authoritatively as you claim I'm being.

Yes. The first (and only) time I saw Signs I called BS on the water thing. Completely lame plot device to use at the climax of a science fiction movie.

Being Tanya'd can be lots of things. Like interrupting a thread about something complex with a random shallow statement equivalent to "Bennie likes turtles" out of nowhere. Or picking a single insignificant sentence out of a 1000 word post to "ackchyually" for 10 pages. Or escaping of an argument that she started yet got in over her head with a mere "Bless your heart" and then nothing.

I must've made a mistake. I thought I clicked on the NOPE thread... not the Signs thread.

Anyway... back on topic. I completely agree with TCTTS' original take that the small, 4' tall aliens that don't eat you.. but rather abduct you in the middle of the night and do experiments on you is far more terrifying than big loud monster type aliens. And it's a style that isn't done nearly as much.

To that point... this movie has me hyped. This looks creepy as hell. Looking forward to it.

The scene with the little ******* rounding the corner or the girl getting pulled up in the air? Yikes.

I've probably mentioned this before, but when AMC was doing $5 fan faves last year, I finally got to see Alien on the big screen. Just incredible to see all the practical effects on a big screen where I could see all the detail and have a new appreciation for a movie I'd seen countless times on the TV, going back to when my best friend and I were little kids watching it on the VCR. And we got to see it in the theater together as old men and realized how many classic horror cliches were incorporated into Alien.
