NOPE (Peele, 2022): Daniel Kaluuya and Keke Palmer wearing matching Rage Against the Machine and The Jesus Lizard T-shirts in a crazy genre movie is my love language. It rocks.

Nope? Yup! Jordan Peele gives us that rare blockbuster that's super intense & engaging but also smart & insightful. That balance isn't always in sync but it works anyway & all the while you revel in the simple pleasure of watching a surprising, unique, original story. #NopeMovie pic.twitter.com/RLZVg1EUoZ

Why would people posting and liking this be in this thread, is there something political tied to this movie that I'm unaware of?aggiepaintrain said:

Putting this thread back on my watch list. Excited for it and I'll see it even if the ending is stupid because his movies are visually appealing to me.
Jordan Peele's NOPE (which cost $68M) is the only new game in town this weekend, and will easily lift off in the top spot. But how high will it fly? What say you, box office probers?

GET OUT dropped with $33M, US $71M. This feels like somewhere in-between. $55M--what say you?

I'm looking forward to reading the plot summary on Wikipedia in a couple of days.
People enjoy getting on TexAgs to tell you how much they hate a project.Complete Idiot said:Why would people posting and liking this be in this thread, is there something political tied to this movie that I'm unaware of?aggiepaintrain said:

I have no idea what language you wrote that in, but i don't speak it.Faustus said:helloimustbegoing said:

I did yesterday on Reddit.
I'll still watch when it goes VOD, but usually curiosity gets the best of me before then.
As it turns out there's an amusing #wwg1wga aspect to one of the feeding frenzies if you, err, look at it a certain way, but the basic complaint against Peele by the F 16 folks is the same grievance held against Spike Lee.
Who could have seen that coming?

As long as the aliens don't get defeated by water in the end I'm good.

Have you seen Communion? It has that creepy feeling also. I grew up in Seguin and had a guy in the neighborhood that ran MUFON. Mutual ufo Network or something of the sort. After many years of being afraid to go talk to him this movie came out and I stopped at his house when he was outside. Told me the author was coming from San Antonio and I could meet him, very odd guy, maybe I just was young enough to think of him as an older too smart for everyone kind of guy. But it was cool to listen to him tell you how freighting the experience was.TCTTS said:
I've complained about Hollywood's overuse of big, dumb, roaring, slobbery, monster-like aliens for years now. Little four-foot-tall "grays," though? For whatever reason, those things scare the ever-living sh*t out of me. They haven't been utilized in movies near enough and Peele finally looks to be changing that. The shot where we only see the top of one's head, about to round the corner toward us, truly gives me the willies.

Yep Whitley Strieber, This post sent me down the rabbit hole. Walter Andrus was the guy in Seguin that started MUFON. Looks like he passed in 2015.TCTTS said:John Cocktolstoy said:Have you seen Communion? It has that creepy feeling also. I grew up in Seguin and had a guy in the neighborhood that ran MUFON. Yeah, Communion freaked me the hell out as a kid. Never read the book, though. And are you talking about Whitley Strieber? If so, that guy is pretty famous in UFO circles.
