So glad I saw them in Houston a few years ago. I hope they find a way to recuperate but it won't be the same without Taylor.

After talking with Taylor Hawkins, a few minutes later, I had lunch with Sully Erna of Godsmack. Sully was much more interesting to talk to although both were relatively basic.
That night, Taylor's drum tech, a big dude named "Yeti" tried to pick a fight with me in a bar called "Rock Rock" where all the musicians were hanging out. It was so strange. Taylor Hawkins seemed OK but his drum tech was a dick.
Flying back to the US after the Fuji Speedway show, I got to have a long chat with Sean Kinney, the drummer for Alice in Chains. Now that was an interesting guy to talk to.

This was shocking and saddening news to absorb this morning. Taylor was one of a kind, a damned good drummer and a great person that kept the foos moving forward.
They should NOT follow the Stones lead and just shut it down for a decade. For what it's worth, I've seen them five times.

Possible scenario:
He got hammered drunk and had someone get him something to perk him up for the show, and either got more than he bargained for or overdid it accidentally.
Think of Denzel in "Flight" when Goodman's character comes to get him ready for his hearing.
Maybe that's what happened here and he got bad stuff.

This one hurts. Saw them in the Woodlands with Weezer back in '05 and to this day it was one of the best concerts I've ever been to. I never had an appreciation for their music until then either but they've been one of my favorites since. The documentary they did several years ago on HBO was so good.

Clearly nothing more than speculation on my part, but it wouldn't shock me if Grohl either disbands Foo or hangs it up entirely. This is the second time he's had to go through this and this one, no doubt, hurts much worse. Him and Taylor were inseparable by all accounts. I will be somewhat surprised if he is willing to carry on Foo without him. But, again, I have no idea.
Terrible loss and whatever Grohl decides to do from here, I'll understand.
