I'm sure a lot of people have speculated the same. I won't judge Grohl, but I can't imagine him playing with another drummer. Unfortunately this might be a similar situation as John Bonham

10 different substances found in his body.

Suicide?

All of those are things somebody with anxiety, depression and pain could realistically have in their system with prescriptions (minus THC I guess). Don't know one way or the other, but just wanted to add that.
Didn't Prince have a similar scenario?

Fentanyl got Prince.
Fentanyl getting everyone these days. That **** is rampant in drugs now.

I think so. I could Grohl doing some solo stuff because music is his life, but not touring or anything.

This one hurts. Saw them in the Woodlands with Weezer back in '05 and to this day it was one of the best concerts I've ever been to. I never had an appreciation for their music until then either but they've been one of my favorites since. The documentary they did several years ago on HBO was so good.
Tired of seeing this happen to so many greats.
Prayers going up for his family, friends, and band mates.

Was at that concert too, great show.

Taylor was Elvis all over again.

Quote:

Forensic experts during an examination found Hawkins heart weighed "at least 600 grams," double the average of 300 to 350 grams, the Daily Mail reported Sunday.

Hawkins, 50, was found dead Friday in a hotel room at the Four Seasons Casa Medina in Bogota. In his room, there were multiple drugs found, according to a report that cited Colombia authorities.

Quote:

Colombian authorities found: marijuana, antidepressants, opioids, heroine [sic]. At least 10 different substances found," journalist Luis Carlos Velez tweeted Saturday afternoon, citing Fiscalia Colombia, the national attorney general's office.

Saw that about his heart too but not sure what to take from it. Was this a genetic quirk? The result of his rock n' roll life? Good? Bad? The article doesn't say.

It was the overall excessive use of drugs legal/or illegal that finally put the toll on Elvis's heart and it is beginning to look like Taylor may have met the same fate.

The question now is. With his history how was no one aware of what he was taking?

This is not something that kills overnight, it takes years.

He ODed in 2001 but reportedly got clean afterwards. It unfortunately seems like he picked the habits back up at some point.

One of my favorite memories is dancing with my wife for the first time to Aurora. They played it once at Red Rocks when we were there and then a couple years later when we saw them at Fiddlers Green.

Good to hear Aurora again. Man, those first 3 records were something else. And throw in the Baker Street cover and the Gary Numan song Down in the Park as the bonus tracks. Wow.

I would certainly understand if Dave and the other band members decide to close this chapter.
I, however, am going to be selfish and hope they are able to take a break, mourn, rest, and reboot with either Dave or someone else on the bongos.

A few years ago at the Pumpkins reunion tour when I was in the front row (tax return splurge) watching Jimmy put on a drumming master class for a solid 3 hours the thought did occur to me...thank God the man got sober. He used so heavily and could have ended up the same as their touring keyboardist. Billy kicking him out of the band might have been the reality check he needed to clean up his life. Hate to see another great rock drummer die like that.

While leaving the quoted OP up. I guess we discovered another hot button topic for the mods.

The Foo Fighters are absolute legends Down Under. The stories of the drinking and scootering are epic.

I did share a video interview that aired on The ABC but, it got deleted. I might dig up some of the radio interviews. I'm sure there will be one with Fitzy and Wippa or maybe Kyle Sandilands.

I think Foos will carry on.

So many successful bands have carried on after losing a member, often times a very key member. ZZ top, AC/DC, Metallica carried on.. etc etc. Foos is Dave's baby, not Dave and Taylor's.

I've been watching a YouTube upload of their Lollapooza concert from March 20 in sections when I sit down to eat or work on my laptop.

It's hard knowing he was close to the end while seeing him just tearing it up on stage and having a blast.

SXM had a tribute show about him yesterday and they started it with "These Days."

It's my favorite Foo song. Devastating to hear it in that moment but my word, what else could you start a tribute to him with?

If you're a subscriber I think it's available on demand now.

I'm a little confused by that. I mean no disrespect and I know he has been a huge part fo the Foo Fighters but it is not like he was the original drummer.

In fact Dave played drums and pretty much everything on the first album and William Goldsmith (Sunny Day Real Estate) was the first drummer from the first tour through the second album.

But anyway. I think the bigger thing is Dave's emotional state overall he has suffered many losses.

I don't mean to diminish Taylor at all. I am a drummer and huge fan but I'm not sure this is a LZ/Bonham situation.

imho

This one might be different. Dave was very close with Taylor. I've been listening to them since their first album and Taylor was the only drummer he trusted to play as well or better than himself. I could very easily see this be the end of the foo fighters. Maybe not, but I could also see dave do some solo stuff instead.

Taylor was the studio drummer for half the third album and every album since. Dave was the studio drummer for the first and second album, and half of the third

sure but it's not a comparison to him.

It was a comparison to LZ/Bonham and if it would end the band,

LZ only every had 4 members. period.

Foo Fighters has had various 8 different members. 2 drummers, 3 guitarists one that left and came back even. At various times it was a 1 person, 4 person, 5 person and lately a 6 person band. It is not like there have never been changes.

That's all.

And Dave will not stop making music imho. FF is the place for him to do that.

Plant, Page, and Jones also continued making music just not as LZ but that is different.

all imho
