Is this movie not based on a true story?

So we are now getting offended at depiction of factual events?

Unless the movie adds commentary like "every representative of XYZ skin color/gender/nationality/etc always does this bad thing!" then why are we labeling it as the stupid buzz word everyone feels cool using?

Often times these "based on a true story" pieces are super exaggerated. Maybe this is the rare exception...I am not familiar with this story, and the movie looks very interesting and well made. But just going based on decades of experience and observation, I would bet $$$ that it is not entirely honest or accurate.

Wow.

Move to Florida if you're offended by this movie. All the bad stuff white people did in history doesn't exist there anymore. It's a safe space for snowflakes that can't handle reality.
LOL...Loyal watcher of CNN and/or MSNBC I see. Maybe Young Turks.

Bet you think the "don't say gay" law that simply says 2nd and 3rd grade teachers can't talk about sex and gender with 7 and 8 year olds behind their parents backs is a complete travesty. An affront to free speech and extremely bigoted.
ZOMG YOU GOT ME!

I don't watch CNN, MSNBC, Fox News, OAN, or any other "news" source. I don't even know what Young Turks is.
Explain your post and how you got brainwashed into believing such loony drivel then. What did Florida do aside from say you can't teach harmful divisive CRT and gender/sexual stuff to small children 3rd grade and below?

Florida did expel a lot of these Indian tribes, and send them along the trail of tears and force them to live in Oklahoma. Which to me is a punishment worse than death.

I think it's fair to say that the tribes were dealt with poorly by all levels of government.

Sure but Florida wasn't even a state during the major years of the Trail of Tears so blaming Florida is just dumb

Because I thought the comment about historical education in Florida was dumb and when he reinforced it with something that was definitely false I corrected it. If you don't want to learn put me on ignore too

I wasn't making that argument, but since you bring it up, Florida existed prior to statehood. Even had some pretty famously anti-Indian governors.

And why does it matter that the president (Andrew Jackson) was part of the Democratic Party (go figure)?

Just asking as an apparent cupcake.

Because everything is partisan politics to some people, and that is the only definition of right and wrong. Not to mention we like to pretend like the southern strategy wasn't a thing.

Nearly all appointed by Democrat Andrew Jackson, including himself.

Pointing out that Jackson was a Democrat was in reply to the implication made that DeSantis, a Republican, had white washed history teaching in Florida, which is just ludicrous.

We are starting to derail this thread, so if you want to discuss this more let's move it to the history board. As another aside the Osages were not on the Trail of Tears they were native to Oklahoma. In fact the Cherokee were put on Osage lands which resulted in several wars between those tribes, thanks to Democrat Andrew Jackson.

I don't think your usage of "Democrat" from the 1830's is making the point you're trying to make....

I'd still slot it second behind removing the ability to see ignored user posts when someone you don't ignore quotes them.

Thanks for dropping by, derailing the thread arguing points no one was making, then starting a new thread where those unwanted arguments can continue.

I would just like to say that my family has been here since before Texas was it's own country. They sided with the Mexicans in the war because they were tired of poor white squatters stealing their land. So everyone else that has moved here since can get the hell out.

Probably based on the reasonable assumption that you're being intentionally contrarian in this thread.

To be fair contrarian was the intuitive way to go after playing the "I'm the real victim here" card about a movie based on historical Indian killings.

Wtf?

That's really cool. It's surprising nobody has done a Mayflower movie in recent years. Even something ridiculous, like the pilgrims and the Indians having to band together to fight off aliens.
