Cool, I have given up on film makers paying attention to little details a while back. It was truly a good summer time flick and a well done finale of a series. Almost had a tear in my eye when the finale song ended after the cast list and the lights came up. It was like saying goodbye to an old friend.

Really hope they are not setting up Helena/Teddy to continue as Indiana Jones.

Will make a ton of people leave the franchise …I will be first!

In regards to the Heinkel, maybe they were some of the Spanish ones marked for the Battle of Britain movie? Same plane just different engines they borrowed for the film? Huh? Maybe? Not that far from Spain in the film?

Indy exists in the same universes as the Battle of Britain film?

Saw it last night. This one definitely surpassed my expectations.

The opening sequence alone made this movie worth it. Fans finally get to see Indy during WWII. The de-aging wasn't perfect, but pretty incredible considering all the action scenes. I thought it made Leia in Rogue One look like a cartoon, and that looked pretty good at the time it came out. It's too bad we couldn't get an entire movie of this with a younger Ford after Crusade, but this was a nice nod to the fans.

Phoebe Waller-Bridge was great, she added a lot of personality and played off Ford nicely. Guess I'm gonna have to check out Fleabag now.

I had to really ask myself why I liked Temple of Doom…was it because of the plot, villain, or simply a younger Ford being Indy? I think it's the latter. While Ford's acting isn't the same in his 80's…I would put Dial of Destiny above Temple of Doom. And I think this one is going to grow on me more and more. Had this one happened with a younger Ford, I think it would be universally accepted as closer Raiders and Crusade than the other two.

The weight of Mutt's death and the separation from Marion was an interesting catalyst for Indy in this one. I think it was handled well. Though I couldn't help but get a bit of a "Poochie died on the way back to his home planet" feel with the Mutt thing, but Vietnam made sense. And it's a bit of a callback to Young Indiana Jones when he joins WWI against his father's wishes.

Loved seeing Sallah and Indy together again. It was a nice touch to see his family in America. There's something about his voice that just makes it an authentic Indiana Jones story.

An appropriate ending with Indy and Marion.

Really enjoyed this one and can't wait to see it again.

I was a little confused by Indie going into the Tangiers hotel at night, 15 minutes later it's broad daylight?

*Loved the WW2 scene, classic IJ
*The scene where kissed Marion "where doesn't it hurt" was a nice callback
*I didn't like the new sidekick kid. The fact he had a wimpy mustache was just annoying to me.
*Could have used less chase scenes. Tiresome.

Overall a good not great movie. I'm a little worn out on the chase around from one clue to another movies I guess.

Too much CGI/greenscreen, to the point of distraction.

I could only understand about half of what Mads Mikkelsen was saying.

And Boyd Holbrook was highly underutilized / needed some kind of stated motivation.

But overall… that was WAAAAAY better than what so many critics/reactions would have us believe.

Ridiculously so.

Personally, I really enjoyed it, and as crazy as the time travel conceit was, thematically speaking, man, I thought it was perfect. Witnessing Indy get to *actually* witness history for himself was legit moving, and just flat out fun.

I can't say that I loved the movie, but it's absolutely a worthy entry in the franchise, and a fitting end for the character on the whole.

It still blows my mind that the grand finale to the Skywalker Saga was a fetch quest for half the movie. Who thought that was a good idea?

Sigh.

Imagine waking up in your crummy apartment and knowing that you could literally be chilling with Archimedes and adventuring throughout the classical world but some ***** with a right hook like an anvil decided for you that you're getting back on the plane flown by a child and flying your ass back through the eye of the portal storm to the future.

Perhaps it's over-used, or the fact that it is a term so readily thrown about in current society, but the fact that he was a Nazi was enough for me.

Thing was, he wasn't going to go adventuring. At his age and in an era without antibiotics, he wasn't going to survive. He was trying to die and she didn't want him to do that.

Saw this last night. A weird movie where I personally enjoyed it quit a bit, but also totally understand all the hate it is getting.

I think the writing and acting are really great. John Williams does his thing. It's the choices Mangold makes that are a bit baffling and hold the film back, IMO.

CGI seems to do, for me, the exact opposite of what a director thinks it's doing. It does not up the production value or raise the stakes but, in 2023, makes a movie look cheap and takes any stakes away immediately, unless used sparingly. Let's just say, I can probably count on one hand the number of real locations in this movie.
The de-aging is not great and almost totally ruins an otherwise fun opening sequence. There is a car chase mid-movie that should be punchy and fun, with lots of great character moments/dialogue, that just loses all steam because of how fake it feels. And there are several, and I mean SEVERAL, scenes where you can just tell they are acting in front of green screens, isolated from any real surrounding, that just make it feel like you are watching a cheap TV show on Netflix and not an Indiana Jones movie. I'm ready for this trend in filmmaking to end and on location filming, with limited CGI enhancements, to become the rage again (please become a rage...).

BUT despite all that. I still had a good time.

Well in my movie he tells the broad he's staying and I spend the next 20 minutes setting up a bat**** crazy sequel about Indian Jones and Archimedes conquering the space-time continuum together to right some of history's wrongs leaving the audience thinking, wait, is a new trilogy being set up? And in the last shot of the movie Harrison Ford looks directly into the camera and says "I'll see you back in two more movies, even if it's 100% computer generated."

Saw it Friday night, and overall it was enjoyable. Especially compared to most of the other new movie releases (I am NOT a Marvel fan, and even after seeing the previews twice now, I have absolutely no idea what the upcoming movie "The Marvels" is about).

With that said, I do tend to pick movies apart, and I have done that with this one. But the stuff that bothers me about this one is different.

The ending would have typically bothered me because of the absolute suspension of reality that it requires (I realize all the IJ movies are fantasy, but IMO, this was a step beyond that). But, as soon as they went diving, I knew the bad guys were going to show back up and at some point IJ would have to defeat them. Rather than just having IJ "kill the bad guys" (or lead them to their deaths), I liked the alternative way they met their demise. The ending was an unexpected twist for me. I also really enjoyed the opening scene. Chase scene in Tangier was clever (I liked the jilted fiance getting in on the action) but dragged on just a little too long.

I also liked the fact that Helena wasn't exactly a "good guy". She was a con artist who just wanted to sell history for her own benefit, and I thought this was a nice foil to IJ.

The problems - I'll start with a really small one that probably most people wouldn't even notice. I actually worked at The University of Alabama in Huntsville, so "Alabama University" just made me cringe. It's all history, so why not at least use the correct name of the school?

The timeline of the movie made it seem like IJ left NYC for Morocco the night of the parade/subway escape (unless I missed something) and he and Helena were in the air at the same time. If that's the case he and Helena would have had to have been on the same flight. Why not just confront her there? I realize I just have to ignore this in order to accept the rest of the movie, but it my brain can't help it.

The CIA part of the story was very confusing (I initially did not even realize there were CIA agents involved, and once I did, I was confused as to who was who) and hard to believe. And it wasn't resolved very well, IMO. Basically that whole story line just dropped away after the agent was killed on the helicopter.

Too many bad guy goons (see my point above about the confusion with the CIA). And the one with the silly little mustache and bad southern accent was annoying AF.

I did, however, enjoy the plane scene at the end. All those goons saluting the bad guy like he was Hitler was creepy.

The kid was also super annoying for a lot of reasons, but his worst offense was his awful accent. What the heck even was that?

And as much as I think Mads Mikkelsen makes a great movie villain, my first thought in his early moments on screen was "he looks like a Bond villain". ~Facepalm~ (can you tell I'm not a huge movie buff?).

I even whispered this to my BF, who replied "He looks like the guy whose face melted." Which also happens to be true.

So, I spent a good 10-15 min trying to figure out where this guy fit in with the previous movies, thinking there was some connection I was supposed to make. Nope, he just kinda looked like Arnold Toht (at least to someone who hasn't seen ROTLA in a long time) and was familiar from Casino Royale.

Also, I felt like Voller/Schmidt should have had some major scars/disfigurement from that smash in the face that knocked him off the train.

I do not want anyone replacing Harrison Ford as Indiana Jones.

Create another story not related to Indy. Call it the Mummy or whatever.

Otherwise I don't understand 'the fedora is female'?

I was turned-up-for-what for this movie, I even binged 1-4 this past week in anticipation.

This movie sucked so bad

There is so much horrible that I don't know where to start, nor finish, so I'll just complain about the most glaring problem. What the hell was up with that kid Teddy? Why in the world was he in this movie? I don't know which was worse, the actor or the character. What a completely vacant and unoccupied role. Every time the kid was on screen it was like nails on a chalkboard.

Everything else about this movie sucked too, and this is coming from someone who didn't think Kingdom of the Crystal Skulls was all that bad.

Worst Indiana Jones movie by far, and it's not even close…

Complains about the kid in Dial of Destiny and then lists the Temple of Doom as his favorite Indy movie, a movie featuring an incredibly annoying brat who was in the entire movie.

It's clear they needed a character to pilot a second plane back through the portal, then reverse engineered the script from there. And I do admit that when Teddy first joined Indy and Helena on their post-Morocco part of the adventure, I was like, "Wait, *he's* coming along?" But five seconds later I wasn't even bothered by it. That, and they made the character useful, and even crucial, multiple times throughout the rest of the movie. I do wish he was a little funnier, or had a bit more of a "thing" or personality, but overall I didn't mind him one bit.

Yeah, that karate did him a lot of good against that big ass Sherpa guard.

I suppose Teddy being able to fly a plane, which allows Indiana Jones to get back to 1969, will have to do.

I guess I don't pay close enough attention - the CGI didn't distract me at all. And I had no problem understanding Mads.

But we agree on everything else. I don't understand the haters. This is a good - not great - addition to the franchise. Thoroughly enjoyed seeing it in the theater.
