All this begs the question: Who should they recast as Kang?

Hear me out. Jason Bateman.

From ridiculous to somewhat imaginable:
5) Mike Tyson
4) Dave Cheppelle
3) Kevin Hart
2) Donald Faison
1) Dule Hill

I'm kidding - these are all ridiculous.

You can't cast the same actor to be the ultimate villain in both the Marvel and DC universes

I wouldn't necessary qualify this as a spoiler, but it does feature quite a bit of footage from the next two episodes...

Well since the final 2 episodes have already been finished, I don't think my comment will have jinxed much if anything

Is the DC universe still a thing?

The Jason Bateman as Kang made me LOL.

I think this thread should do some best (worst) Kang castings if the replace Majors, which I still doubt they will while we wait for the next episode.

1) a poorly done CGI Majors uttering quips of past dialogue ala the episode of South Park with Chef after Isaac Hayes quit.

2) Michael Myers as Dr. Evil as Kang the Conqueror

3) Lee Majors (the $ 6 million man) - Will save a ton of money not having to change a bunch of the promo materials.

4) Mr. T - since Majors basically played an updated Clubber Lang in Creed III.

5) Denzel - this would be the greatest casting ever. Villain Denzel is best Denzel.

Tonight was incredible setting up for hopefully an amazing season finale!

Credit to my oldest on this: Loki is the real he who remains (observation at the beginning and then possibly confirmed at the end?)

Wow. The second half of that episode was gripping. Loved the record store scene in particular. The effect for timelines unraveling is really well done.

So now Loki can… go back to any prior point in his life and rewrite what happens next?

There's a lot you can do with that.

I think he can only go back in time where the other people were. But it is confusing because Timely was also at the point they want to jump back to but nobody thought they needed him.

Take note, that on the last jump he did on earth with the variants when he said "I did it", he actually jumped back into his past body/consciousness. All the previous jumps physically transported him so that there were 2 Loki's in the same time.

yes I was wondering about that! And when he slipped back to the TVA at the end of the episode it was the same thing

Did anyone else think the invasion of New York was about to start when they showed Hunter Lady in New York in 2012?

Yes.

When they showed the 3 guys obviously in a prison escape, there was an obvious nautical horn blaring and my first thought was, what, are they going to Escape from Alcatraz? And that's where they were. Had that been previously referenced in earlier episodes and I just forgot that?

What an amazing episode with and amazing end.

This show is turning out to be an incredible ride.

This, so far, has undoubtably been the most compelling story in this new phase of Marvel.

Yeah when they showed that fake head laying in the cell, Escape from Alcatraz was the first thought in my mind too. It's funny that KC, so decent and honest in the TVA, is a total a-hole in the real world.

OB in the real world being so quick to accept Loki as one of his characters come to life reminded me a lot of the 6th Dark Tower Book - Song of Susannah - when Roland and Eddie show up at Stephen King's house.

I've had a pet theory that every TVA variant left their timeline to join the TVA right before a moment of death, kind of like the Spider-Man villains in No Way Home, which would be another twist of a discovery - these people weren't stolen by the TVA, they were saved!

Could still happen, but feels less likely after that episode.

That's a solid theory. Agreed not sure it plays that way now but a solid thought for sure.

Loved that episode! Sets up for a potentially huge ending!

Doesn't take away from my enjoyment of this current season at all but I'm still uncertain how the TVA operates out of time. If Loki was slipping in between time and space in the TVA don't the laws of time work there too?

I also wonder if people who work at the TVA willingly left their timelines to serve the TVA to save their timelines. Like what Loki said to Don (Mobius) and then memory either was wiped and they were placed at the exact moment after they were taken out of their timeline? Idk just a random theory I had thought of.

TVA works "outside of time," as far as the main MCU timeline goes, b/c all of time is happening/exists simultaneously. But, time does still pass in the TVA and the Citadel at the end of Time, b/c there are cause and effect relationships that are occurring there.

This season seems to be setting up a "Dark" sort of story.

Predictions (spoiler tagging for those that don't like reading them)

Loki created the TVA originally, setting up a knot his past, present, and future can't escape. The need for the TVA is why they allowed the time travel in End Game when they prune seemingly every other instance, as it creates the Loki they need to create the TVA jumping in time to continually destroy, but then continually creating it again to protect the sacred timeline.

Timely is actually HWR. Loki will zap back to the point in time before he is disentegrated, save him and everyone else by sacrificing himself, allowing Timely to take on the HWR persona and become in charge of the TVA. Not sure yet if he is also Kang the Conqueror or if that version of him is what causes him to start pruning every other timeline.

Renslayers original self has to come into play at some point next episode. I expect Miss Minutes to try and sabotage HWR being in charge, which ends up killing her. HWR will need to recreate her in order to ensure the loop continues.

You know on the Marvel thread we've all been questioning their direction going forward. Maybe they've decided Tom Hiddleston as Loki is the big shining star for the ultimate next Avengers movie. I don't frequent the comics much, but the current plot line is him becoming the "Ultimate Avenger" and having to pull together other Avengers from multiple time lines for some big fight. It's not against Kang, but let's face it, that sounds pretty in line with what some of those wild reports about RDJ and so forth coming back.

Also, while Disney+ shows have been scorned by some, loved by others, there are now at least 3 absolute bangers out there for Main Themes - Loki, Mando, and BoBF
