I do think that Loki is going to play a similar role to the watcher in WhatIf

Best line for me was Loki's conversations with Sylvie about playing god and him emphatically staring "we are gods!"

So much awesome in that episode with the finale blast, light flood, and Loki's eyes… then silence.

It might have been a pithy line but it was a pretty convenient way to avoid dealing with the issue by the writers. And that's a giant issue.

one little fun thing they could do depending how the rules of this time slipping thing will work (great point from earlier about he's no longer slipping as a new person but joining his conscious self at the current time he jumps to).....

we'll all agree this is a changed loki and a WAY different person from when he was first introduced....

so what if this changed loki decides very quickly to slip back to a time in Asgard and make peace with his father, mother and/or Thor......

but not try and change anything as it would just create another branched timeline which is no good.....but just a quick little moment to try and atone for what he'd done before (even if it never happened as this loki was taken after the first avengers movie and technically never experienced Thor 2, 3, etc).....

might be a cool little end credits scene to wrap this story up.....

Still really like the show, but we just got the trope of the protagonist figuring out their previously uncontrollable power at the last second in order to save the day.

Yes, and the story is muddled as hell. But I'm somehow also still enjoying this show.

I mean Thor kinda did something similar with the time travel in end game, doubt they revisit it

My favorite part of the episode was Loki time slipping in sync with the wacky waving inflatable arm flailing tube man in front of the jet ski dealership.

I also was a fan of Loki's conversation with OB about how it's impossible but not impossible to go to a place that never existed, or whatever.

That was the most marvel conversation ever.

I like how Mobius was still trying to sell a jet ski after he joined the group. Even mentioning the financing available.

this comment made me realize he's the epitome of "you miss every shot you don't take" and that is such a perfect Owen Wilson character trope for anything he does

Good world-building episode... even if the particulars of the world they're building don't make a lot of logical sense.

The cast is what makes this show for me. The music and the effects are also excellent, but the cast really shines.

the one nitpick i have with the episode is that OB was able to find Loki with his rudimentary temp pad in 2022 from 1994 (i guess 1995 bc he said it took 18 months to build). Maybe there was some other device in the handbook he built as well that would allow him to find Loki. Like i said, it was a nitpick, but I guess also fits into the theme of the episode when OB told Loki that science is concerned with "how" and "what," and fiction is concerned with "who," "where," "what." So you are supposed to ignore the technicalities in this episode and just focus on the story.

I hope the entirety of the next episode isn't them fixing the Loom. I hope they do that quickly and introduce something else that either ends in a cliff hanger or at least leaves us looking forward to something.

In that big Marvel expose last week, it points to the finale either heavily featuring Jonathan Majors, or setting up a lot of Majors going forward. So it sounds like he's returning in some form or fashion, which hopefully means that they at least move on from fixing the loom relatively quickly...

Quote:

Majors was already a big presence in the MCU, including as the scene-stealing antagonist in February's "Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania." And he has been positioned as the franchise's next big thing in this season of "Loki" - particularly in the finale, which airs on Nov. 9 and sets up Kang as the titular star of a fifth "Avengers" film in 2026.

"Marvel is truly f/cked with the whole Kang angle," says one top dealmaker who has seen the final "Loki" episode. "And they haven't had an opportunity to rewrite until very recently [because of the WGA strike]. But I don't see a path to how they move forward with him."

Any predictions for tonight? I'd like to see the gang feel like they've done something really important, only to realize it's exactly what Timely / He Who Remains was guiding them to do all along.

I'd also like to see Kang bogart Loki's line and mention something about his "Glorious Purpose".

+1 for recast Majors anyway because he overacts the hell out of every Kang he touches. He was pretty damn distracting in this season.

I thought episode 5 was by far the best. The spaghettification is truly horrific. It's almost like the snap but your environment is snapping around you as well.

Overall this season has had a lot of wasted time, IMO. It needs to finish strong, otherwise it's been several episodes of slowly moving the chess pieces, with nary a Conqueror in sight.

That was my takeaway as well. He is the new he who remains. I definitely enjoyed the finale and see him in a role like The Watcher now.

This was such a great series. 2nd season way better than the first.

Finally, Disney+ made a series that doesn't screw up the ending, or some other kind of letdown.

So is it over? Season 3 a no go as that kind of put a bow in it?

What's going on and where is this going? No clue. But I still loved it. Great finish. Seems every episode ended on such a powerful climax. Acting is great. Visuals were great. Enjoyed that series. Hope it ties into something meaningful. But seeing Loki at the end was cool.

I thought that was a great end to the series and arc for loki. In fact, with my d+ subscription set to renew Sunday at whatever ridiculous rate now, I'm Viking it a day. Glad I could get this series jn first,

I'd love more. Not sure what else you do with it though. That's a pretty good ending.

It would be nice if they could bring Loki back out in the next phase of Avengers movies, though.

I don't think that signifies a Majors' exit at all, completely the opposite.

Loki has taken on a benevolent, protector role. They mentioned all the Kang variants are out there and referenced the Kang on Earth 616 - which is the Quantamania Kang.

Really liked the overall message that the final delivered. You can't go back in time and fix things, and you can't change someone else to fix things - only you can change the path you're on by making the decision in the present.

Lots of homages to other great properties, including Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade with the test of faith, stepping out onto nothingness. Loki had a real Vecna from Stranger Things vibe with the hive mind thing. And some good Groundhog Day moments. I was hoping Loki would bump into Ned Ryerson, but not this time.

I really questioned why they kept Sylvie around all season, but I think in the end her purpose was to show Loki that it wasn't about anyone but him. That he had to evolve past his Season 1, found my soul mate, bit.

Also patting myself on the back for guessing the Glorious Purpose part several hours before the episode.

I was really, really hoping for a finale that wouldn't fall flat like so many of the Marvel properties.

And this one delivered. Loki has gone from the most selfish of characters, to the most selfless.

In the penultimate episode, he just didn't want to be alone. And now he is alone, seemingly forever, to save his friends.
