Almost as bad as the last Seinfeld. Depressing
Should have stopped at rogue 1

E9 was the first SW film I didn't see in the theater. E8 was that bad (the four leading up to that one weren't all that great either). I just lost interest. Watched it once after it went to Disney+. Haven't revisited that trilogy since.
There is a new SW film being made that will focus on Rey possibly rebuilding the Jedi academy, so that reboot probably isn't happening. An L of an Ag said:FWAppraiser said:

This! And it took me two tries to finally get through it on Disney+, it was that bad. Needless to say, I haven't rewatched ANY of this trilogy.
I'm hoping beyond hope that somehow a partial reboot retcons these from existence.
But they did it with Rogue One. R1 is a masterpiece, IMO. I just don't get how they could nail it on that film, even with all the trouble they had with it in production, and then just lay an egg on everything else. I'm starting to think that Felicity's magic tays were the reason. I'm probably right about this.DallasTeleAg said:
Disney's inability to write a good female led story is truly ridiculous.
This complete failure has been even more highlighted for me over the last week and a half, having binged Blue Eye Samurai and Arcane. Both shows are led by females who are incredibly well written characters.
Rey needed to get her ass kicked stupid by some monster. Then kiss her brother. Like full on spit swap kiss. Then see her buddy get squashed flat like a grape. See her parental guardians torched to the bone. Have her dad kick the ever loving snot out her and then lop her arm off. Have said arm replaced by a mechanical one to remind her everyday that this "sh** is real bruh".Cinco Ranch Aggie said:There is a new SW film being made that will focus on Rey possibly rebuilding the Jedi academy, so that reboot probably isn't happening. An L of an Ag said:FWAppraiser said:

I don't hate any SW movie. I saw each one multiple times in the theater. I have long defended the prequels as being way under-valued. Then along came the sequels to show what truly bad SW movies would look like. I have noticed that any time I want to rewatch a SW movie, it is never a sequel. I did actually enjoy The Force Awakens, marginally, even though it was basically a remake of the first movie. When they brought overt political bullcrap into The Last Jedi and The Rise of Skywalker, I found myself less interested and more irritated with the leadership decisions from Kathleen Kennedy and artistic decisions from directors Johnson and Abrams. They violated the well established rules of their galaxy with Rey just being the most powerful Jedi despite no training; I believe that also was a political decision with that whole "The Force is Female" garbage that Kennedy had on a tee shirt. They desperately wanted a female Jedi to be the best the Galaxy had ever seen but just wanted it to be without requiring her to earn that distinction through hard work and a riveting character arc.
As compared to episodes 1-6, episodes 7-9 are bad movies, but they are masterpieces compared to a lot of truly awful crap that has been made over the years.
Careful now, you're likely to touch off a big conversation about how bombs don't fall in space. (Referencing a big back-and-forth on the main Star Wars thread a while back).Vince Blake said:
There are a few nice touches in Last Jedi:
The beginning bombers scene is cool.
Andy Serkis' Snoke performance is wonderfully menacing (and ultimately wasted).
R2 playing the "you're my only hope" message.
I like the throne room fight.
Given everything else, I think Adam Driver was great.
Other than that, I don't know. That movie has serious cringeworthy moments. I hope the reason why we haven't seen much Old Republic stuff is because the lore is being hardened so that writers and directors can't come along and just throw whatever crap they want and we end up with a jumbled mess like the sequels.
But the Rise of Skywalker did give TexAgs one of its greatest memes.Bruce Almighty said:
The Last Jedi had some really low lows, but there were some cool things as well. I think The Rise of Skywalker is a worse movie overall. It's the worst of the franchise and the only Star Wars movie where I walked out having zero desire to ever watch it again.

I think this thread is an example of how a lot of Star Wars fans didn't like the sequels.

You are all kinds of wrong. It was sloppily done and I never felt invested in it. The writing is atrocious.
