I can't believe no one has brought up the fact that Kevin Bacon's character is wearing a Dallas Cowboys baseball cap in the movie (they even reference it in dialogue). Of course, his character is a "prepper" who immediately turns to the guy who has all the means to survive but won't share it with anyone because "it's fer his family, and his people".
Seemed like the director was throwing shade at the South, or Middle America. Bacon's character was not going to give any kind of assistance until he was offered $1000, and then his tune changed and he was handing out meds and helpful info while sitting in front of his house with the door wide open (but with his trusty 12 gauge within reach, because, come on, all of us Texans have a 12 gauge within reach, right?). Also, all of his info was crazy conspiracy-type theories of who was behind the attack. That would be the most "on the nose" thing I got from the movie. I wish I could get those two hours of my life back.
