I visited Naxos with my wife and newborn in October, which is the start of the offseason. That was perfect for us. Zero crowds, zero lines, some businesses had started to close, but the beautiful beaches were all ours and the narrow roads had little traffic.

We flew into Naxos and took the ferry out. I enjoyed the ferry. Sat on the deck to enjoy fresh air and views the whole way back to mainland. Just make sure you get the biggest ferry you can. I hear the smaller faster ones are vomit rockets.
Thanks and gig'em

I wonder how much the Trojan War will play into this. I'm honestly hoping it's not much.

Speculation I've seen is that it'll be the big, opening action sequence and that's it. Which, if anything, would make a for a great "prologue," and we know how much Nolan loves releasing those exclusively in IMAX the December prior to his movies releasing the following July. Considering...

- The opening action sequence of The Dark Knight released December 2007 with I Am Legend.
- The opening action sequence of The Dark Knight Rises released December 2011 with Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol.
- A five-minute action sequence from Dunkirk released December 2016 with Star Wars: Rogue One.
- The opening action sequence of Tenet released December 2019 with Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker.
- While Oppenheimer released a special/extended IMAX trailer December 2022 with Avatar: The Way of Water.

The big blockbuster this December is Avatar: Fire and Ash, so it would make perfect sense for Nolan to follow tradition and attach the opening five to eight minutes or so of The Odyssey in IMAX showings, and it would make even more sense for that action sequence to be (at least a segment of) the Trojan War. It would also explain why Nolan looks to be filming that first, so as to have it fully ready before everything else, for a potential December IMAX debut.

The opening of Saving Private Ryan, if everyone is jumping out of wooden horses instead of PT boats and it's Trojan arrows instead of Nazi machine guns.

How dumb would I be if I buy an imax ticket, watch the alleged trailer, then walk out?

Very.

The Avatar movies are good and anyone who says otherwise simply doesn't like quality, blockbuster entertainment.

The first one is extremely derivative. The second was a slog that I hardly remember.

Seeing the first one in Imax for the first time in 3D, however, was amazing for the technical accomplishment of being a truly stereoscopic experience.

well he isn't doing the illiad so hopefully not too much but they will need to use the trojan war for flashbacks and intro to set up Odysseus travel home from the war.

The scale of this thing. Nolan is going full-on, old school Hollywood epic and it's going to be glorious...

Bah... this sucks. I don't want to wait until 2026 to watch this. I hope he makes this a 4-hour long movie with an old school intermission.

Screw the intermission, and my bladder.

The intermission for The Brutalist was actually really cool. If anything, it made the movie feel like even more of an event. There was a countdown clock on the screen, plenty of time to go to the bathroom, grab a refill, etc, and then settle back in. It was just a nice little refresher and you could tell the audience was super into it. I wouldn't be at all against more movies embracing an intermission.

Same. I love intermissions. I use the RunPee app for every movie that I go to the theater for, but would gladly trade that for a dedicated intermission on longer, big movies.

What other movies in the last decade have had them? I can't say I've ever been to a movie with an intermission.

Showing a little bit of age here, but had some VHS movies growing up that were 2-packs. Those always created a de facto intermission.

You want intermissions? Have I got a format for you.

It's called Laser Disc. You have to physically flip the disc from one side to the other, creating a natural intermission. And the great news, many movies require multiple discs so you'll get multiple intermissions.

I had/have some DVDs like that too. Gangs of New York is one of them, I believe.

Imagine playing Doom and Poseidon in the same summer. Curious who Nolan will get now instead. Hell, I can't even picture what a Nolan-directed Poseidon would look like. Getting more stoked for this movie by the day…

Any stand alone film on the Odyssey must at least open with the fall of Troy to set the stage. Awesome to see this is likely the case. Yes, I am a history nerd.

For LOTR the two discs are just for the extended edition movie. The entire extended edition set is 15 damn discs.
