Don't think there's anything in theaters i would spend any money on watching. Im sure they'll release online after a couple weeks.

You really won't see F1, Jurassic World Rebirth, Superman, or The Fantastic Four?

This has a shot at being the highest-grossing July in history.

After 20+ years, what's it like to still doubt Nolan?

Honestly, contrary to this tweet, one of my favorite things around this time in the cycle of a new Nolan release is scouring the internet for the best quality bootlegs of his teasers. I'll still of course catch the teaser in theaters on Wednesday, but it's become legitimately fun to watch his teasers first on a grainy phone recording, then see it projected on a movie screen a day or two later. To that end, hopefully the first leaks start dropping at some point tomorrow night...

If you had been alive in the 7th century BC like some people, you'd understand that the armor is all wrong. Why don't you wake the **** up?

This made me think about the last time I saw the TV movie for the Odyssey as a kid, and I couldn't believe it's been almost 30 years. It's the most notable Armand Assante role that's been etched in my memory.

I hope Nolan knocks it the park. I loved this epic growing up.

I remember when TCTTS said he'd dial back the twitter links a little. Bro you can't help yourself!!

Anyway, super stoked for this movie! I normally like my ancient white-ish people to have British accents like in "The Last Kingdom" or "Rome". I hope Matt Damon doesn't stick out like a sore thumb ala Denzel Washington in the travesty that was "Gladiator 2". I'll trust Nolan on this one.

I said I'd dial back the REACTION tweets. Meaning tweets reacting to a finished product, which this movie won't be for another twelve months.

Otherwise, apologies for providing news and items of interest to this board/thread, free of charge, trying to foster conversation. Won't let it happen again.

FYI, without tweets of trailers, posters, insider gossip, and critic reactions these threads would be REALLY ****ING BORING.

A number of different bootlegs are popping up, but Warner Bros is sniping them left and right, and fast.

For those having trouble hearing it, below is the dialogue, as best I'm able to transcribe it...

I can't tell who the first voice over is from. It sounds a little like Willem Dafoe, but he's not in this (at least not that we know of). Regardless, the dialogue is delivered over shots of the beaches of Troy, the last couple of lines delivered as we see the Trojan horse itself on the beach...

Darkness.
Zeus' law smashed to pieces.
A kingdom without a king since my master/masthead(?) died.
He knew it was an un-winnable war. And then somehow… somehow he won it.

Followed by a brief conversation between Telemachus (Tom Holland) and Antinous (Jon Bernthal) in what looks to be a tavern of sorts, over various shots of Odysseus, though we only see him from the back or in silhouette...

ANTINOUS
I know nothing of Odysseus, not since Troy.

TELEMACHUS
I have to find out what happened to my father. When did you last see him?

ANTINOUS
You're interested in rumor, huh? Gossip?
(turns to the others in the room)
Who has a story about Odysseus, huh? You? You have story? Some say he's richer, some say he's poor. Some say he perished, some say he's in prison. What say you?

TELEMACHUS
In prison?

ANTINOUS
(scoffs)
What kind of prison… can hold a man like that?

... as Damon himself is finally revealed, lost at sea, floating on what looks to be the remains of a larger ship.

They could put out a trailer showing only the side of some building and it would not matter to me, I'll be seeing this opening day.

Overall, it's the perfect, haunting tease, and properly sets up the plot/motivations...

- Against all odds, Odysseus won the Trojan War, but now he's missing and in his absence there's turmoil.

- Odysseus' son is searching for his father/must find him.

-The prison rumors can't be true, as it's implied that Odysseus is a badass, and thus somewhere out there finding his way home.

I also love that no one is talking in forced English accents or whatever. Everyone's speaking in "normal" American accents, yet somehow it all sounds perfectly natural/not at all out of place.

Shouldn't the tagline be "don't defy the gods" or "defy the gods..."

This reads like an endorsement of defying them.

I'll be honest, I don't remember a ton details from The Odyssey, but by and large aren't the gods usually depicted as assh*les in most literature of this sort? If so, why would he/we not want to defy them?

His defiance and hubris are a large part of why they were "*******s".

Poseidon is an *******. He tries to destroy Odysseus for blinding his son.
His son was eating his crew!

Calypso is quite a *****.

Athena is good though and Circe is interesting in her love for him.

This is legit helpful.

So maybe…

"DEFY SOME OF THE GODS. AT LEAST THE ONES WHO ARE OBVIOUSLY DICKS."

Well now the armor is the least of my concerns. They aren't even speaking Greek. What a sham.

Ok and when they killed Helios's cows despite being warned not to? Pretty defiant. That incurred the wrath of the gods.

Yeah, his crew were pretty big d-bags at times. There was numerous times they could have avoided trouble if not for the crew.

Most of the ancient stories involve men pissing off the Gods and then getting wrecked for it.

"OBEY THE GODS" would make for the lamest movie ever.

Also, gods are notoriously petty, prideful, and unfair. Defying them - and if able to outwit/beat them in the process - is absolutely the way to go.

The gods are very human in their emotions and reactions. Often acting like petulant children.

Poseidon does everything in his power to prevent him going home simply for revenge.
