Tough one this week. Five people in negative totals. Latecomer Goldie Wilson lost 36% of his points in one night.

Cirie runs that beach, and I don't why they let her.

They're all too scared of somebody else, and know she won't make fire.

But fk around and find out is apparently something none of these people learned.

So much this. I will be rooting for whoever takes out Cirie. She's too comfortable, and she's playing everyone. I don't have anyone I'm specifically rooting for anymore except "not Cirie."

Also Coach came out looking like a Karate Kid villain at his first tribal jury.

Cirie and Sandra play 2 exact different games. Sandra was "anybody but me." Cirie is "who tf can we get off this island without pissing anyone off."

She knows what she's doing. The question is who else does?

Such a dumb twist. 2 things were wrong - writing your name down bad enough, huge strike against you, but having to announce it is another strike against you. If it wasn't announced you still have the disadvantage of a vote against you, but when everyone knows it it's a double whammy. That's one of the bedrocks of survivor, no matter what is said at camp, you never know who each is voting for until they are read so you have to guess everyone's intent. No guesswork here.

Yeah I don't blame Christian for feeling dumped on.
No, I don't care what CNN or Miss NOW said this time

Really feel bad for Christian, but him choking that puzzle was the upset of the season. He could have come back to camp and just declared "Jonathan already has a vote in the urn, let's vote him out" and the momentum would have swayed whatever way he wanted.

I am so impressed with Rizzo right now. He survived the initial blitz unlike Savannah and is looking sharp.

Was surprised how much sour grapes there was from both Jonathan and Joe about Devens' move. Jonathan tells the camera that his idol move "might blow up in his face later." - Uh, you guys were about to vote him off last time, there was no later.

Joe clearly can't handle being outfoxed at Tribal. We saw it with Kyle/Kamilla, and we definitely saw it with how he mocked Devens back at camp. I hope Joe goes far since I re-picked him, but he definitely doesn't seem to like any men who aren't in premium physical shape and play with "honor"

I will say this every week: Tribal Council Dee is the highlight of every episode. What a stonecold fox.

Absolutely brutal for me post merge.

And great point about having to announce it at camp. That made it near impossible to navigate . You could have made it somewhat interesting to announce at tribal so you maybe have a scramble

I considered taking more points from Christian and awarding them to Jonathan for Christian giving Jonathan his shot in the dark, but it's not technically an advantage since everyone has one and Jonathan couldn't do anything with it, so no points

It was rough watching Christian completely crash out as I was doing the math in my head and I wasn't sure which way this was going to go.

What does everyone think about Jonathan returning the SID to Christian? Was it just a friendly "no hard feelings" type gesture or just a form of jury management?

I think it would have been better to be:

Win: get to put an extra vote in right there and control the information

Lose: Have to put a vote in for yourself and announce it at camp, but still get your regular vote or ability to play shot in the dark

This requires people to be crafty if they want to pile on and vote the person out. They can play their shot in their dark and they still have a vote that is in play as well.

Also, I feel bad for Christian because its clear he thinks the twist screwed him, but (and this could just be the edit) it was pretty clear he was the #1 target and probably would have gone home anyway.

It's a good question, I think definitely jury management only because we know Jonathan has been picking the brain of Boston Rob for a while, and Rob was a pretty classic "I'm still your pal after slitting your throat" guy. if Jonathan make the final three, the question would then become - a) could Christian figure out that Jonathan lied right back to his face about not voting him out, making the return of the die kind of a dick move? and b) if Christian straight up asked Jonathan about it at a final tribal, would Jonathan try to lie his way out of it?

I found Jonathan and Joe's terrible lying to Devens last night really fascinating. Especially Joe. He is a really angry liar. The less you believe his lie, the bigger his eyes get and the tighter his jaw gets. I can't figure out why they were so dead set on trying to tell Rick they weren't going to vote for him originally when everyone knew they were allied with Coach and Chrissy.

I was thinking about who's left, and it's a really odd bunch: Five people who are among the most physically impressive the game has ever seen: Joe, Ozzy, Jonathan, Stephenie, and Tiff. Three impressive strategists: Rizzo, Aubry, and Cirie, and a couple of court jesters in Rick - the idol king - and Emily, who feels like Jar Jar Binks along for the ride with the Jedi Council, just staggering along hitting her head on things, screwing everything up, and somehow not dying.

Here's one more update, point leaders by players in the game:

Tiff 38
Joe 31

Stephenie 24.5
Ozzy 23.5
Jonathan 21.5
Aubry 20

Genevieve 19
Chrissy 18
Coach 16
Rizzo 15.5
Cirie 15.5

Dee 14.5
Christian 12.5
Rick 11.5
Kamilla 11.5
Emily 10.5
Colby 10

Charlie 0

Kyle -2
Angelina -3
Savannah -3.5
Q -4
Mike -4.5
Jenna -6

It was both jury management and he really seems like a good guy and wanted to make sure he had a souvenir.

I can't wait til Christian goes on Kimmel tho.

Or is it Fallon? I don't really care.

I thought it was spiking the football, trying to take credit for the vote off.

Jonathan seems like he'd have a tough path to victory if he made the finals. On the jury, no way Christian or Dee is voting for him. No way Devens or Emily or Tiff would vote for him. That's already 5 people not interested in giving him support out of an eventual 11 person jury.

Are they no longer doing the Ponderosa videos that show what the jury members are doing after they get voted off? That was one of my favorite things from some of the past seasons.

The question is who can use Cirie long enough before they extinguish her.

Steph can. Obviously Rizo can. Devens can, and that's why she's about to send him home. And he knows it.

So, is it fair to say, "Never volunteer for exile?"

If someone picks you, then it's just the breaks. It seems like on exile, the punishment for failure always outweighs the reward.

Biggest issue with this twist with Fallon is it would've been better to not announce it and have Christian scrambling knowing he has a vote. It made it an easy vote out for them.
HTownAg98
How long do you want to ignore this user?
It's starting to seem that way. When you have people volunteering to go (four did so at the last immunity challenge), the punishment needs to be harsh. At first, I thought the punishment for Christian was unduly harsh, but I guess it needs to be if people are going to keep trying to go.

The other thing is these challenges are designed to be completed within the given time. So it's not like they're intentionally getting screwed over if they go.
Rigs
How long do you want to ignore this user?
They're only volunteering if they're already stuck, and need whatever advantage *might* exist.

Christian was headed home anyway, and knew it, so was trying to pull whatever he could.

Cirie knew she wasn't, so wanted to see what she could pick up.

I wouldn't be surprised to see Devens aggressively volunteering to try to get out there next ep.

"The middle" is a hilarious term, and these people have all done this enough to know if they're in it. The fact that it's just being openly discussed (as we're seeing) is hilarious.

I'm sure it's openly discussed every season, we just aren't shown it bc of editing.

Ozzy lost the RPS game to Christian. Lucky for him. Otherwise, he would have failed the puzzle and had to vote against himself.

Good interview with Christian on EW. Says he would have voted for Ozzy if he had won the journey, not realizing how tight Cirie was with Ozzy.

So Jimmy Fallon made some suggestions and production came back with their stupid idea and that's what they went with? What's the point of the celebrity endorsements/cameos? To pull in a new audience?

I just think they wanted to include some celebrity superfans. While the twist sucked, I still maintain that Christian just totally choked it. When Rachel won a few years ago, she whipped right through it.

100%. I kept saying to my wife, he needs look at the pictures/words on the puzzle pieces instead of trying to just fit the pieces. Really frustrating because he was one of my players and he is usually a lot better than he played on that challenge.

Now that we're getting down to crunch time, I have to laugh at the tight feeling I get in my stomach when one of my picks is in danger of getting voted off.

I love Survivor, but it feels like no matter what happens on season 51, it's going to be a massive letdown from this fantastic season.

Yeah, unfortunately half my picks are pitted against the other half. I keep hoping for some sort of miraculous alliance where they all get together and dominate to the end, but at this point it looks like when some of my picks do well, the other ones lose and negate any points I might gain.

Agree with you, this season has been the most fun season of Survivor in a long time.

For an obviously smart guy, he's historically not performed well on puzzles. His partners usually have to take them over. I think his capability to be a spaz is even greater than his intellectual capability.

I have no issue with him failing and being "punished" for the puzzle.

It was an absolute killer to force him to read a letter aloud back at camp revealing said punishment. He had no wiggle room.

I would've like to see him struggle knowing his name is in the box.
