Anything south of Harlingen and North of Antartica is primo.

decent episode tonight. i particularly liked the sequence when Sylvio was eating dinner and all of the sudden he's a witness to the 'hit'.

i guess it looks like phil leatardo is taking control of johnny sac's crew again.

what was the deal with aj's girl tonight? why was she so pissy? i'm thinking theres gotta be a major storyline coming up with that and her pissiness was a setup for a future storyline.

the preview for next week's episode tries to make it look like Paulie is a rat, but i guarantee you 100% they dont take the storyline in that direction. there might be some suspicion, but he wont turn out to be a rat.

Okay, the pre-game show is over. Time to start the season.

Bianca is pregnant. I predict AJ rejects his father's crew and runs off somewhere.

Phil will be boss.

Meadow becomes Tony's confidant - watch. And Phil will probably be whacked by either Tony or some young upstart. They foreshadowed NY's fall.

yeah i was thinking pregnancy too. pregnant or not pregnant....blanca is totally smokin'.

looks like bobby's 'hit' is discovered next week. could it lead to the end of tony soprano..

I don't think it's Bobby's hit that's discovered. From the trailer it looks like they are digging the body out of the ground someplace (and obviously Bobby just left the frog's body behind in the laundry mat).

I'm wondering if it is one of Paulie's hits because there seems to be tension with Paulie next episode. Who knows! I need to see the "next episode" thing again because my memory is kind of faulty.

BTW- Vincent Curatola's final episode as Johnny Sac was terrific.

-Who else caught the little joke regarding this being the "last time" Tony picks up the newspaper (Somebody typically always goes to pick up the paper from the end of the driveway near the beginning of a season).

i caught that....but usually its in the first episode of the season and not the second episode. (he did fetch the paper last week also)

the guy playing johnny sac has always done a great job with that role. he'll be missed.

Johnny Sack loving his wife so much was one of those nice little touches that almost makes these psychopaths seem normal.

Curatola (sac) gave a lights out performance last night. His interaction with the convict/doctor was nails.

I had a thought that Melfi would end up being Tony's undoing. By law a psychologist would have to report it if a patient was outwardly saying that he would harm himself or someone else, and I think Tony is going to slip up with her. Think about it, the initial hook with this show as that a mob boss was in therapy. This has been a major storyline...one that gave this show its uniqueness. It only stands to reason that she will be a key player in the show's end.

Good episode. Definitely one to watch again for its subtle nuances.

Also, I was fully expecting Chris to get hit at the very end. The music sounded like something that would have death attached to it.

I immediately thought to the end of Godfather II and thought now things will get really good.

Somehow I think that Tony is going to offer up Chris to appease Leotardo.

What was the deal at the end when they go off on the making of "Cleaver" and the running of a special episode??????

Rudyjax-- I agree. They set up major conflict between Tony and Chris in the first episode when Chris called Tony to wish him a belated happy birthday and Tony just hung up on him. The tension just increased this week with the movie. Gonna be interesting to see if Tony lets his guilt over his relationship with Chris get to him and make an effort to fix things or if he just decides to take Chris out and be done with it.

ha. what am I saying? this is the mob. Chris is outta here!!

I've been telling you bastages (LOL) from the beginning that there is going to be a terrorist attack involving those guys from last season or two seasons ago and that they are going to connect Tony to the whole thing. And then those HLS agents visit Tony at his house. I think i am right.
Hong Kong Paul
How long do you want to ignore this user?
I think the whole terrorist thing is a front for those agents and they're not HLS agents at all, but just good ol' FBI. I think they'll end up getting to Chris somehow the same way they got to Adrianna.

Chris is my favorite character on the show. I hope he doesn't go until the end, if at all. I hope Paulie gets it.

I like Paulie better than Chris.

I think all the main characters live for the movie, where Tony and a few others meet their demise.

another episode with a lot of anticipation in it. although i never expected tony to whack paulie, there was enough tension there to keep us guessing.

for the first time, i actually did feel sorry for paulie tonight. this is the first time they've alluded to him not earning his keep within the family so i'm not sure what that'll mean long term for him. maybe he'll be forced into some type of retirement (or maybe worse).

who is the guy phil leatardo had whacked in front of the restaurant? i know he's been on before but recall his name or his association with anything.
AgCanuck07

Doc Santoro (sp?)...He is the guy that had Gerry "The Hairdo" whacked last week. After last week, it looked like he would be on the inside track to taking over the NY family. Phil whacked him, thus Phil is now the top dog.

BTW- The tension during the boat trip was unbelievable. Wow.

Paulie has been a good earner for most of the series. I doubt he gets whacked.

I really think they are going to do a movie, so I expect all the main characters from NJ live and most of the whackings come from the NY crew. They hinted at this tonight, where Tony was railing against Phil's people in the preview for next week.

Wouldn't bank on the movie too much ya'll...the same people over at HBO have been talking about doing the same thing for Sex and the City since before it ended several years ago and it still hasn't happenned.

Sorry for polluting a Sopranos thread with SATC crap...just pointing out i've heard as much about the movie not happenning as I have that it is.

Did you notice the Godfather reference with Doc's death? He got the "Moe Green Special"...

A few points..
-I like how they are focusing on Tony's relationship with a different member of the family each week. Episode 1 was Bobby, 2 was Chrissy, 3 was Paulie.
-I think Paulie showed that he would not cave under pressure and spill critical information. I think Tony was waiting to see if Paulie would crack and admit to telling Johnny Sac about the joke. Paulie proved himself by continuing the lie with Tony, i think.
-I felt really bad for Paulie the entire episode. They really showed how lonely and pathetic his life is. He just seems to enjoy talking to people, even if the subject matter may be a little to confidential.

can you imagine running into a "Paulie Walnuts" over the free continental breakfast at Hampton Inn.

I didn't care for this episode. The whole Junior and his young Asian buddy was kind of a waste of time. We get it...Junior is losing it (has been for some time) and must be medicated. Maybe it was a parallel to Paulie - Junior gets beat up at a mental home and Paulie entertains himself with 3's Company reruns. Both have ended up with lonely, pathetic lives. Same thing with Johnny Sack last week. There's never a happy ending with anyone in this business.

I think the newspaper in the driveway is gonna have something to do with the last episode.
The Dog
How long do you want to ignore this user?
The focus on Junior was a farewell episode for his character just like Johny Sac had last week.

I loved the stuff with Junior. Thought it was hilarious to see him running his own little mob business in the nuthouse. Flashes of his old self.

I knew the Doc guy was going to get whacked when he took a bite off of Phil's plate. The way Phil looked at him, I turned to my wife and said "uh-oh, don't ever ask for a bite off an Italian guy's plate".

The near-whacking of Paulie on the boat was great - SO many weapons to choose from! (the hatchet thing, the big knife, the club all laying around).
However I wonder if they are really starting to build up the whole "Tony has changed since he was shot" thing. First he looks weak against Bobby. Now he backs out of whacking Paulie; things that never would have happened a couple of years ago.
Makes me wonder if they are building up to Tony somehow getting out of the mob. Especially given Carm's comment ("we still have to live like THIS at this age?" when Tony was going on the lam).

David Chase and all the writers are excellent foreshadowers, even when the foreshadowing doesn't pan out.

Paulie Walnuts and Junior are two of my favorite characters, so this was a good episode. I expect Junior to definately kick the bucket, probably at the hands of a nut in some comic situation.
