How much is Iran being preoccupied going slow down Russia and sending drones into UKE

There were new Iranian drone factories set up in Russia, as I recall. There should be ZERO operational Iranian drone factories within Iran shortly.

Russian cruise missile production can't keep up with battlefield expenditures, so it is apparently developing a cheaper, quicker to produce version.

"At the same time, the new Izdeliye 30 will come with certain disadvantages compared to more sophisticated missiles like the Kh-101. In particular, the new missile is less survivable. It doesn't have the low-observable features of the Kh-101, and it very likely lacks the option to add countermeasures of the kind we've seen in the past on the previous missile. It could also be more limited in terms of its navigation capabilities."

I've seen some videos of civilian style drones like this. They take off vertically but fly horizontally. I assume the body makes them more stable in flight while also giving payload storage space. Wicked fast. They had one that raced against a Red Bull F1 car.

Countries suddenly want to capitalize on Ukraine's hard-earned combat expertise.

"Various countries, including the United States, have approached Ukraine for help in defending against the Iranian drones, Zelenskyy said late Wednesday. He said he has spoken in recent days with the leaders of the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Bahrain, Jordan and Kuwait about possible cooperation."

Of course, and ever since Russia invaded, we have routinely received intelligence from Ukraine regarding all aspects of Russia's war effort, including getting hugely valuable access to captured high-end military equipment for analysis.

Ukraine continues to hammer Russia's Black Sea fleet.

"In February 2026, Ukraine's Defense Intelligence special unit "Prymary"also known as the Ghostscarried out a coordinated strike in occupied Crimea that hit multiple Russian military assets. The operation damaged a Project 22460 patrol ship, a Project 1496M1 sea tug, a Project 16640 vessel, and a BK-16 landing boat. Ukrainian forces also claimed hits on an S-400 radar installation, a Forpost reconnaissance UAV, and a Ka-27 helicopter. Ukrainian officials declared that "Crimea is no safe harbor for the occupiers."

Ukraine also making progress on land. Russia's loss of Starlink access is helping.

"Ukrainian special forces have halted a Russian advance in the southeastern Ukrainian region of Zaporizhzhia, Kyiv officials said Saturday, the latest military success in recent weeks amid Moscow's ongoing aerial bombardment of Ukrainian cities."

An interesting war overview in just three charts.

"The Ukrainian defense is proving to be durable and it's the Russian offensive that's struggling. The way to end this war is not to rescue Putin from a failing campaign, but to help Ukraine make it fail faster."

Ukrainian forces are successfully counterattacking not only in the Oleksandrivka and Hulyaipole directions but also in western Zaporizhia Oblast. These counterattacks are generating tactical, operational and strategic effects that may disrupt Russia's Spring-Summer 2026 offensive campaign plan.

The Russian command likely hoped that Russian advances in the Hulyaipole direction would complement Russian advances near Orikhiv, which would in turn enable Russian forces to advance toward Orikhiv from the east and west and later enable advances toward Zaporizhzhia City itself.

Russian forces are thus facing a far more difficult battlefield situation in southern Ukraine in early March than they did at the start of 2026.

The counterattacks in southern Ukraine are also having strategic effects in other parts of the theater. The cascading effects that the Ukrainian counterattacks in the Oleksandrivka, Hulyaipole, and Zaporizhia directions have generated in other sectors of the front show how constrained the Russian force structure in Ukraine really is.

Russia does not have any high-end military equipment. If they did they wouldn't be fighting over farming villages in eastern Ukraine.

Their army is completely incompetent and their air force is a joke with a handful of nice looking planes that can't actually perform.

The one thing this war has taught us, and it was apparent 6 months in, is that other than their nuclear missile arsenal (land and sub) Russia itself is a toothless tiger that could not overrun Poland, Hungary and Czech much less actual NATO forces.

Russia does have high-end systems, it just doesn't have enough high-end soldiers to operate them effectively nor enough high-end senior officers to create effective campaigns using them.

On the other hand even with war support, the Ukrainians have been able to R&D and manufacture at a very high level under war conditions, while doing so at a very high OPSEC level, not remotely possible without significant and disciplined support by the general population during the post everything culture the world is in.

Yep, bone-deep hatred of Russian brutality during the war and bone-deep fear of life under the Russian whip is motivating and uniting Ukrainians to fight on.

I assume you are referring to the GPS you and I can buy at WalMart and Best Buy that their pilots are using in their "advanced" fighters and fighter-bombers (which admittedly are sweet looking aircraft).

You may be right, even then whatever tech they have is at least a decade behind the US, maybe 2 decades. They have NEVER built a submarine that we could not easily track, they have no aircraft carriers (none!). Their tanks are a joke, not even close to an aging M1A1 Abrams.

Their electronic warfare capabilities are severely lacking. Maybe they are good at drones which is obviously a newer element of warfare, smaller drones vs larger UAVs.

Regardless, the entire thing adds up to an incompetent force. Kyiv is 120 miles from the Russian border and only 500 miles from Moscow and the Russians could not only not take Kyiv their failed attempt to do so was a complete S show comedy of errors.

Video discuss the effect of recently losing access to Starlink. It has had a profound effect on Russian forces ability to fight, command and control, and target enemy forces. He goes into the "politics" of how and how the plug was pulled.

Later in the video, he comments on "retired" US and Dutch F16 pilots flying sorties in a defensive role over Ukraine. Great clip that I had not seen of an F16 downing a drone around 16:40.

Pentagon wants to buy Ukraine's highly successful drone interceptors.

"Ukraine has already learned how to build and integrate an entirely new air defense system in an asymmetric war. Now, it's offering the playbook to allies in exchange for the kind of help Kyiv still cannot produce on its own.

"We are ready to help. We are suggesting help," Brave1's CEO told Military Times. "For us, it's important to have an alliance that is strong to stop the war and prevent the start of new wars."

Alongside an image of a burning Shahed posted on X, Ukraine's Ministry of Defense spelled out its current offer to the West: "We can help you fight against Shaheds. Help us fight against ballistic missiles."

The United States on Thursday temporarily lifted sanctions on Russian oil that is currently at sea, allowing it to be shipped to buyers around the world as the Trump administration scrambles to contain energy prices that have been soaring because of the war in Iran.

The exemptions, which were issued by the Treasury Department, will be in place until April 11. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent estimated that freeing Russian oil could add hundreds of millions of barrels of crude to global markets, curbing prices that have been hovering near $100 per barrel as a result of the Iran conflict.

The decision was a significant turning point in America's effort to punish Russia for its war in Ukraine.
