I regard the ATF the same way I think of the TABC - bloated, overpowered, and against the overall interest of the average citizen. I heavily support any movement to take power away from government and return it to the people.

Trump had the atf do the same **** for bump stocks. And the USSC didn't stop the ban initially. I think recently a court finally tried to stay the ban.
My understanding is there have been some recent USSC rulings on the "deference" (chevron rule I think?) that agencies have to "interpret" the law (aka make new law that they want and twist existing law). Hopefully this court puts a stop to most, if not all, of it. Our congress has given way too much power to executive branch which just puts it on these agencies to essentially make the law as they see fit.

I like my guns too much to be a liberal. I've actually changed the minds of many true liberals on gun control.

Most of them think that enacting gun control in the form of additional licensure and background/mental health checks and enforcing harsher punishments when the slightest infraction occurs. But that argument is easily countered with the fact that the former only lends itself to keeping firearms out of the hands of the less financially fortunate, while the latter disproportionately affects the working class and prevents people from protecting themselves and their loved ones.
