You may actually be right, but if so, a lot of "Republicans" are serving their last legislative session. The beast has woken and will not go back to sleep.

Oh yeah. On F16, if you don't bow 100% of the time to tea party religious extremists, you get the broad brush treatment and painted as a Dem. That never gets old.

If you are putting Democrats in committee leadership, voting with democrats to elect speakers, and combining those to stifle GOP rules and platforms then you are quite literally a Democrat.

What you say doesn't define you. What you do, does.

He's a democrat. That pretty much guarantees he's lying. Plus, he's aligned with Drunk Dade and his cabal of subverters.

No, what I consider vindictive is using billions in outside money to primary GOP members in local races who supported the party and platform 99.9% of the time. Because they voted with their conscience to impeach a slime ball like Paxton or they represented their constituents by not supporting vouchers, their own Gov/Lt Gov and hardliners in the party decided they were traitors.

If that 0.1% time was voting to put Democrats in committee leadership and aligning with democrats on rules/speaker matters then it is an unforgiveable sin.

Everything else is just confetti.

If one is donating to lobby for oil & gas, which employs and empowers basically the entire State, and the other is lobbying because of a desire to cripple western American values then yes they are quite literally very different.

Motives matter.

This is a point. His arguments have nothing to do with Conservatives/Liberal or Democrat/Republican. He's a single issue voter. That's all that matters to him is school choice. EVERYTHING else be damned.

I like EV's and often support LGBT issues. Maybe pull moderate on some others. However, there is absolutely no way in hell I'd ever vote for a Democrat, much less ever side with one and give them a position of power in anything at all. It's the bridge too far. And that defines who you are more than anything else.

If you side with AND enable Democrats, in my book you're a ****ing Democrat.

I don't care about "high ground", nor am I your "Hoss" or a teacher/admin. I care about the Texas Constitution. If you don't like public Ed, then work to pass a constitutional amendment to get rid of it. But you know that would never pass and the attempt would be political suicide. If it's so broken, either work to fix it or pass a constitutional amendment. But don't try to subvert the constitution to start diverting public money to religious/private schools. There is school choice in Texas already, so utilize it if that's what you want. Just don't ask me to pay for your private school tuition.

Fine. Vote how you wan.

But, the vast majority of Texas has decided they want their taxes to go wherever their students go. Many new congressmen and congresswomen are now there due to this single issue.

Voting with libs on a speaker that the majority of republicans don't support should get you primaried. Period.

I happen to like Dade and completely despised the dirty campaign Covey and his cronies ran against him. I live in D21 and Dade has represented us well. Is he perfect? No, but neither is your rep.

I think Abbott/Patrick decided to play dirty in the primaries to try and get what they want (or what their mega billionaire donors want). I've been vocal about that a number of times. And I find it rich all the hand wringing going on now about the SOH. When you get down in the mud, you better expect to get dirty. Abbott was beating his chest about "having the votes" for vouchers after the election. Now Dade's side of the GOP may have found a loop hole to continue the opposition. At the end of the day, vouchers on some level will most likely be a reality. But it will be a fight.

I think we should all have a problem with blackrock, vanguard, state street, etc. There are definitely community banks that don't have those companies with significant ownership…but they're not publicly traded and are harder and harder to find.

My point is there are a lot of things to have issue with Dade Phelan about, but other than investing in a bank that his brother founded (and is no longer affiliated with) he has no control over the bank.

To be honest, that may be among the least of his questionable dealings. People here in Southeast Texas have been investigating Phelan and his brother and have found other deals that are problematic and may come up in the future.

LOL, that also applies in the reverse direction, doesn't it? The Gov didn't switch sides, he simply chose to support a different R in the primary that would support the 99.9% and the 0.1%.

Your guys are completely switching sides here! You don't have the high ground, hoss. You are either a school admin or a teacher and you don't give a darn about anything other than protecting a system that is completely broken.

The public school system will continue to exist. If vouchers are unconstitutional, then the courts can decide. I'm not asking you to pay for my private school tuition. I don't have any kids in school.

Is your spouse a teacher or admin? Any of your kids? You don't post here much except when the issue of school funding comes up. Then you are all in! No one is this passionate about an issue unless they have skin in the game.

Why are you so concerned about who I am and what I do? I post when I feel like it on a number of texags forums about a a bunch of different topics. I don't care what you do for a living and have never asked anyone on here what they do or what their kids/spouses do for a living. I'm passionate about a number of issues and I'm definitely not a single issue voter.

Covey was absolutely honest in that campaign but Dade is a dirty crook. The lies were all from Phelan's side.

Hello again, Mr. Covey. Did you ever find those signs you accused me of stealing? We should get lunch one day out in Mauriceville.

There will be a lot of tears in here after lunch today, when Cook realizes he doesn't have the votes and Burrows is named SOH.

The System always wins.
You may actually be right, but if so, a lot of "Republicans" are serving their last legislative session. The beast has woken and will not go back to sleep.

Oddly enough, he considers the voters primarying those who don't represent them to be "vindictive".

Ronald Reagan once said "The person that agrees with you 80% of the time is a friend and an ally, not a 20% traitor."

Hello Mr. Dade. I'm glad you are able to type when you are drunk.

Looks pretty damn chaotic to me. (Which is fine).

I'm not optimistic at all, but curious how this plays out.

Guillen switched to Cook, but Fairley switched to Burrows. Raymond(Dem) announced support for Cook, so that's 58 for Cook.

There is some talk of one of the Democrats running for Speaker possibly endorsing Cook.

Kitzman is a piece of work and was the rudest Rep we talked to. Democrats were more civilized.

Well, Mr. Phelan, you should show up at the party meetings in Mauriceville to explain why Republicans should vote with Democrats. When you're sober, of course.
