I need to pay more attention to state politics. My rep is one of the Phelan sychophants. I'll not be voting for him again.
Hopefully the State GOP follows through with the censures and you won't even get the chance to vote for him again because he won't be allowed to run in the Republican primary.
The cries of this widow will echo across the globe like a battle cry.

We thought so last time. But it keeps happening.
Well, this vote proves the Burrows bunch are liars. There is no double-talking out of that.

Brad Buckley is a liar.

I will proudly support his republican opponent next time. Brad has overstayed his welcome.

Buckley said he supports vouchers

Said it would pass 2024

Then he votes for Burrows

If you need more Democrats than Republicans to win, you're not the latter.

What a BS position you are taking here. Burrows and the "Republicans" who voted for him agreed going into caucus that they would stand by the decision of the caucus.

Abbott nor Patrick had anything to do with anyone of them going back on their word - and the Rules Burrows helped write - when it became apparent they weren't going to get their way.

They all SHAT on every Republican in this state who relies on the party to govern. And you're doing it too.

THAT's the lesson that is to be learned here. And come next cycle, the lesson will be driven home.

And Drew Darby, I will happily and vocally support your opponent in the next primary.

We aren't talking about people who vote with the party the majority of the time but move on an issue or two. We're talking about people who are voting for the Dems' choice for speaker and placing Dems in charge of committees. I don't care what the ballot says, these people are democrats and doing the democrats' bidding.

You are a liar. This is not what happened and you know it.

They went into a caucus promising to support the eventual winner. Cook won. So they then went against their word and joined with the democrats. They are liars and deserve to lose their seats and any privileges that being part of the republican party provides.

What do you not understand? Republican voters are sick of RINO's that play nice with the democrats and give them power in our majority red state. Only a liberal would be against republican voters voting in a more conservative representative in the primaries.

In perhaps the most critical vote they will make all session, they courted and sided with the Democrats over members of their own Party to elect a Speaker.

Your statement is not the issue and vacuous at best.

It's a shame Dustin Burrows has flipped to the Democrat Party, thus nullifying the votes of the fine people of Lubbock. I guess he can get Kamala to come in and campaign for him in 2026 - she'll have free time.

I didn't think there were that many Democrats in Lubbock, so it's a strange political move. But at least we now see him for what he is - a liberal Democrat.

Well, he said they would find the best person to be the next speaker, but he voted for the democrats' choice, so that was a lie.

Did he commit to vote for the candidate that most republicans supported?

He committed to support school vouchers, but this vote will prevent that (as he knows), so he lied there, too. Just despicable behavior.

He's far from liberal. He has a track record to show for it. I think the Lubbock people will want to keep the influence in Austin by having one of theirs as speaker. That will provide some balance. I'm guessing of course.

Like I said, FAFO. That with you get when you primary your "allies" over a single issue.
Well, now there are TWO issues to primary so called "allies" over.

And for the record, I am still on the fence on the voucher issue, depending upon how the funding works out.

But all the voucher games pale to turning your back on your own caucus and running to Democrats when you don't - what did you say? - get your way 100% of the time.

Abbott primarying Darby wasn't enough to get me to support Darby's opponent. But now, Darby's own actions are more than enough. He's permanently lost a 27 year supporter.

The key will be to expel them from the GOP and prevent them from running as Republicans.

If you want to govern as an Independent or Democrat then run as one.

Yeah, Chet Edwards used to always point to his "conservative" votes, too. They're playing a game, but in the end, they gave democrats power the democrats did not earn in the voting booth.

Burrows's district is only the southern end of Lubbock. Most of his district is all the rural areas south and east of Lubbock. Most of Lubbock is district 84, where Carl Tepper is the representative. I believe Carl Tepper supported Burrows in his bid.
