As a former Episcopalian (now an Anglican), I can tell you this is why there was a schism in the Church a few years ago. It's a great example of how liberals can destroy any great institution. The problems in ECUSA started in the 1950s with liberal ideology getting a foothold and gaining strength with very few members noticing. Many of the clergy recognized what was happening, but by the 1990s it was obvious the only solution was a split. The ECUSA has devolved into a woke shell of what was at one time a great Christian organization. This is a case study for how toxic liberalism is.
