What did Bad Bunny say then?

Exactly.

This is a function of Puerto Ricans, Dominicans, and Cubans speaking a version of Spanish that sounds like they've got a mouthful of water and trying not to spill a drop of it while speaking.

It's an "in" joke across the rest of the Spanish speaking world.

I worked as a designer and then construction engineer for the Texpress 635 project in Dallas years ago. Company building was from Spain. Managers were from Spain. Field leaders were from Puerto Rico and South America. Field crew were from Mexico and Central America.

On the traffic side, I was specifically needed as the plans were not constructed correctly all over the place as the translation from different versions of Spanish was not done correctly. Had to come up with solutions to reroute 10,000 of electrical cables or 2,000 feet of conduit because they forgot to install it in a bridge or rail.

Point being that you don't have to understand the lyrics to enjoy the music/performance.

Exactly. Good music is good music, even if you don't necessarily understand the lyrics.

Except for the fact that the music in this show isn't enjoyable regardless of the language it's in. Literally felt like a crappy generic Mexican restaurant soundtrack.

But other than that, I agree.

eta: Indifference, and no reaction either way makes this a successful show. Sometimes mediocrity is a good thing when the comparables are horrible. So I guess...congrats on a good show?
That's what I think is hilarious is how much Puerto Rican music has been adopted by Mexican clubs, restaurants, etc.

Especially in LA and Vegas.

And if the NFL thinks this is now their target demo, I'll just further distance myself from pro ball.

Does NFL think they can profit with a predominantly Spanish speaking audience? That's lots of eyes but no spending power, right?

Are there 50 million people in America that the NFL can turn into fans - probably not

Younger is almost always the target demo Beer, cell Phones, movies etcetera
The only things old people buy are reverse mortgages and new expensive Rx

I just have one question…why did I just watch a concert that the majority of Americans can't understand in the sport's biggest show of the year. It just seems dumb. Imagine if the Italian Winter Olympics opening ceremony had a huge portion of their program in Chinese or something. Everyone would be going wtf.

This was not a good performance. Not being able to understand a word is only part of the reason. This guy is not a performer, he just walked around doing nothing and they needed 100's of back up dancers to to make up for that.
Bad Bunny always has a lot of backup dancers. Even when he was relatively unknown when I saw him in 2019.

You have to be pretty damn insecure to be offended by the Bad Bunny halftime show. My goodness. Sure has been a whole lot made out of nothing. I was far more offended by the Patriots performance on offense.

I was watching the Super Bowl as most red blooded English speaking Americans do. That's my point. Football's core audience is people who have lived in this nation for several generations. Why would they put on a halftime show into their program that 80-90% of their core audience wouldn't understand?

Apparently the little kid that got handed the Grammy during the halftime show was the kid from Minnesota that the media wrongly said ICE used as bait to deport his father

Got totally political. Disgusting.

Did you read my post? I said I didn't watch it because I didn't care to see if he made it political or not. Sounds like he did a Lady Gaga type thing where he did some weird stuff but kept it fairly vanilla and then acted like he was a patriot even though he spends most of his time trashing the US. K. I'm just not into leftist idiot dudes that don't sing in English and like to wear dresses. If he managed to control himself (or was forced to) that's fine. If you think it was a great show and like that crap that's cool too.

I just miss when we had people with talent that sang in English and 90% of folks are interested in seeing instead of divisive weirdos that are just putting on a show and can't sing. Maybe I am just old though.

"Kid Rock" used the Turning Point opportunity to rebrand himself to Bob Ritchie, and to promote a new incconoration of himself.

I love his music, and have attended several of his concerts. But, it was what it was. A self promotion.

Never heard of Bad Bunny before this Super Bowl. But, the dude has won six(6) American Grammy's so somebody in America likes and understands him. I personally would have loved to see U-2(I know, shame on me for wanting an Irish band at the Super Bowl) but I didn't have any heartburn about Bad Bunny. Learned someone new. I can now say I'm marginally more cultured.

Yes, when it's spoken. Not so much when sung. A lot of times same for me when lyrics are sung in English.

Are we really at the point that we are arguing if a half time show on the biggest sporting event In America should be speaking English??

I don't care that much about bad bunny's political beliefs on ice but I don't think it's outrageous to expect to be able to understand the half time show as an English speaking person.

If you ever needed proof that all the nfl cares about is money, there it is.

The Super Bowl Halftime Show is absolutely terrible, one of the worst, EVER! It makes no sense, is an affront to the Greatness of America, and doesn't represent our standards of Success, Creativity, or Excellence. Nobody understands a word this guy is saying, and the dancing is disgusting, especially for young children that are watching from throughout the U.S.A., and all over the World. This "Show" is just a "slap in the face" to our Country, which is setting new standards and records every single day
including the Best Stock Market and 401(k)s in History! There is nothing inspirational about this mess of a Halftime Show and watch, it will get great reviews from the Fake News Media, because they haven't got a clue of what is going on in the REAL WORLD And, by the way, the NFL should immediately replace its ridiculous new Kickoff Rule. MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN! President DONALD J. TRUMP
the halftime performance was so good even trump watched it instead of the alternative

Interesting.... TMZ followers on Twitter are for the most part probably very left leaning.

For some reason the Twitter is cutting off the poll. At the time of this post, 78% thought the Kid Rock led show was better.
