Your are correct that Vance "defended" it, but your conclusions as to why are fanciful wishcasting.

Vance is NOT signaling valuing, supporting or defending racism. Nor is Vance a racist at heart distinguishing "true" Americans by color only. (Though he does believe if you are illegal, regardless of race, you are not a "true" American and should go home. I agree with him on this.)

What Vance is defending is the targeted attack on a specific conservative group of people by Politico with the express intent to weaken conservatives in general, and to specifically deflect from the Jay Jones scandal, and the reactions of the left from the Charlie Kirk assassination.

Earlier in this very thread, the point was made that it would be interesting to see the private communications of leftists in the immediate aftermath of Kirk's shooting. But, we never will. Politico has zero interest in exploring hate speech coming from the left. Even if they obtained such communications, I am 100% sure they would bury it.

So this whole charade is a political hit job against a bunch of college kids with zero power who posted some stupid crap.
