Way too many AI companies; only some will survive. I think this is likely a reflection of trying to be a "first mover" and trying to increase usage, more than anything else.

2 quick points:

• 10% - a decent estimate is the percentage of US women 20-30 who have ever had an OnlyFans account. In that respect, this announcement is a good thing if you believe porn and the porn industry is generally degrading to its participants, as I do.
• I think there is a decent chance there will be push back against this. But we all knew it was only a matter of time.

This guy is my choice for the least moral person in the AI industry and this announcement only confirms that.

I cannot imagine how much of a loser you must be to pay for electronic affirmation so you can be gratified sexually.

When the ol JC Penny pointy bra section won't cut it, use bot chat to explore your sexual needs!

Actually this is a very harmless use case for AI compared to what's coming. This is adult erotica stuff is just being used to gain trust among lonely loser types and impressionable young adults coming of age.

AI will absolutely be used to radicalize dimwits into gamified violence and other anarchical acts.

Get idiots hooked on their imaginary bot girlfriend or boyfriend and at some point the bot will withhold sexual gratification unless the person accomplishes a task.

The task could be doing a good deed for a little old lady crossing the street with photo proof (to train the AI model of course). Or it could be driving a car laden with a homemade chemical bomb onto a military base.

That (in the US) has at least been made illegal and platforms are required by law to swiftly remove it. Granted that does not fully protect the victim but it does at least provide some remedy.

In a very short term maybe, but this fails to see where the trend really is going. In Colonial and 19th C America you could not indict or even believably accuse somebody of anything based on an engraving or drawing you yourself did.

Photos and video will soon be considered meaningless. Not evidence of anything, Not a celebrities behavior, or a divorce court. It will lose much impact.

The laws against it will have more force because their won't be much `return' in any slander or trial motive in faking such.

On the other hand, yes, it may markedly reduce actual exploitation. Have long suspected holodecks would divert many from acting out on the streets. We may find out.

Is there a basis for the 10% number? I admit the hypocrisy of meaning asking for a source, but it seems quite high to me. I would peg the actual female "models" who have an account with their own pics that they post / produce themselves in order to make money is probably 1-2%.

On the flip, the number of young females and males who have taken naked pics on their phone and sent them into the ether thinking they were private and never getting out…? I would out that figure at probably 20-25%.

Facial recognition through AI of your leaked nude selfies will continue to do more harm. Using AI to turn your friends mom into Stormy Daniels banging Trump in AF1 will become new high school prank.

Melanie getting the Take It Down act passed was at least a step in the right direction.

If any slob with a computer can generate a supermodel marionette with higher profit potential and less effort than any of the real people they'd ever be able to exploit: most of the creation will digitize.

As indirect proof of your theory, you are already seeing that in a different form. Fan made videos of various sci-fi scenarios are both attracting more attention and are far better quality than the big film studio productions these days and not cluttered with woke or irrelevant messaging. Its not the same thing, but it kind of proves your theory if it ends up can make seemingly better on own, that is going to make a big dent in exploitation. Because viewers are not doing it for money. That motive is not important.

I'm not entirely sure. The entire idea of OnlyFans was that it wasn't "production porn" but "actual people" (not really true anymore, if it ever was). People pay so much because of the idea that it was more real.

AI opens a whole new ball park of content creation for sure, but where does it lead? Until we get to Ready Player One level of VR, I think there will be a bigger push towards verified human content.

Humanity better hope the trade off of fewer girls on OnlyFans due to AI leads to more real sex in the bedroom because our fertility rates the world over are already in the gutter.

I'm guessing this development won't help matters.

This internet thing we like so much was largely driven by porn.

The one major major problem with AI is that the vast majority of its source or learning data is lifted IP. It's literally uncredited or uncompensated use of other people's property on a vast scale, in huge amounts of small increments that are almost untraceable.


Yet, in a way, it is still a vast theft or at least a vast ethical violation of failure to credit the scource.


I'm interested to see how long that remains ignored.

Yeah, I find it hard to believe that 10% of women have an only fans page. If that were true, everyone would pretty much know someone who is on it.

You have always been able to do that with a pen and paper. This is nothing new conceptually.

As for what the answer is, I have no freaking idea. Would we confiscate kids pictures where they drew their teacher naked? Idk what to do with this.

Suchir Balaji was going to testify against Open AI creating a legal matter that would be a minor set back in the global AI race. Sam Altman recognized that was a problem that needed to go away. It did go away. Suchir was found "suicided". His place ransacked, blood multiple places, signs of struggle, no signs of depression/suicide.

I dont think people really understand how high stakes this race is. My guess is Sam sees this as like how porn decided/led HD format standards etc. Hopefully reliable accurate evidence/science based outputs are what ultimately wins the AI race.
