Unemployment rate hit 4-year high in November even as economy added jobs

Unemployment rate hit 4-year high in November even as economy added jobs

The US economy added 64,000 jobs in November, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics.

Still know a massive amount of people laid off and out of work. 4.6% isn't a critical level, and, traditionally, is a rather healthy rate.

However, as we've noted for years on here, there are a lot of reasons not to trust that number.

Don't worry, in several years we will have lots of new factories and sweatshops, that used to be in Asia. Many new jobs coming as we seek to make America the manufacturing hub of the world. Or at least, of America.

Why would you not want more manufacturing brought back here?

Because he's a liberal pansy.

than I ever have before. It's staggering.

And the ones getting jobs are taking massive pay cuts.

I think we are in for a very bad few years.

Who's bullish? Why?

This too shall pass...

100% bullish on America.

Just got out of a call where exec said if we don't adopt AI quickly and correctly we'll potentially have to double the current employee count.

Clearly for executives, employees are a bad thing. This is going to get very ugly.

Wait until they find out "ai" can't actually replace all these people they think it can.

I think we're going to see a double whammy of "ai can do everything" that kills jobs because of ignorant ceos followed by the ai bubble crash as said ignorant ceo's find out it can't. Not nearly as many as they think.

I personally know two people in tech that lost their PM jobs in Georgia. Have seen a medical scribe replaced by ai in Texas. Only anecdotes I have currently.

when you look at a graph of all time unemployment levels for the last 80 years...

it's almost as if this economy is one of the best when it comes to employment.

does not compute!!

I can't imagine a world where Hollywood movie stars have three human personal assistants in a world with robots and AI and Quantum computing.

but maybe they don't care about wasting money.

every CEO of a real company will not be hiring expensive human personal assistants in the next few years.
