Endowments aren't budgets. They get a small fraction of that money, and most of it has strings. They also have huge operating budgets.

These public officials seem to love patting themselves on the back and holding meaningless press conferences. This is like the 4th press conference they've had with zero information. I get that it's an ongoing investigation and you don't want to jump the gun, but if you don't have nothing to say, don't hold a press conference!

Also, if they supposedly have over 800 cameras on campus (so much so, that students have complained it feels like a surveillance state), how is it the best they can do is say the suspect is a man wearing black that might be in his 30s and release a video showing very little distinguishable features of the suspect from the side/back.

There has been some good reporting giving more details of the incident and the suspect's "unique" gun, but nothing confirmed by these press conferences.
