Trump didn't do anything regarding the naming of the Trump-Kennedy Center. It was a unanimous vote by an independent board.

Trump was working in the office on rescheduling marijuana, establishing the Patriot Games, and more.

At this point, I'd rather not have your vote at all. But to be honest, I cease believing people when they say

How close are you guys?

Rs in July tried to get the center renamed for the Trumps. It does appear that in 1983 some wording was included in the US Code prohibiting any further name changes, memorials, plaques, etc so unless that did indeed get passed in with something like the CR, then it is a non-starter.

But damn its entertaining to so see folks react as if this was demanded by Trump.

Trump's priorities are tariffs, closed borders, ending fentanyl, fixing healthcare, and peace. Its dumb not to be able to recognize that.

That's not how politics works. Any topic that comes up distracts attention away from other topics and you have a finite amount of that attention. Trump is running very short on time already because after the Midterms the focus will move very quickly to 2028. This is the kind of thing you want to mess with in the last year of your term.

You have no idea if Trump has spent any time personally on this nor do I, that's not the point. If you think that the Trump admin isn't aware of it or doesn't support it then you are kidding yourself. It means articles will be written about it. It means questions will have to be answered about it. It means that people who support Trump on policy but hate his ego will be annoyed by it. Is it a big deal? No, but this is the kind of thing you do on your way out of office and not less than a year in when you are trying to get those other agenda items pushed through.

It's just how politics works. You have to be smart in how you spend your time because it is very finite and the Dems are very good at finding new and creative ways to run out the clock already.

Not at all. Political capital is a broad term. It has to do with time, attention, and most of all the ability to impact voting. You have finite quantities of all of the above. In this case it is more about the time and attention than the need to lean on people to vote but that's still involved, every vote costs you something.
