There will be no Sunday Funnies today. There will be no more Sunday Funnies in the future.

This has nothing to do with the disaster of a football game yesterday. It has everything to do with the R.O.I. that I don't get each Sunday morning. As I stated in the past, the lifeblood of this thread is the comments and feedback.
Last week, 20 of you were kind enough to give me that - just 20!!! And it's the usual twenty people that take the small effort to let me know they appreciate what I do here. To you guys I say thank you. To the rest of you freeloaders, you killed the Sunday Funnies, not me and not those who took the time to type 'well done' and 'thank you, rocky'.

And with that, I can bet I will get a slew of comments for not posting memes this morning than when I do post them.
Elections are when people find out what politicians stand for, and politicians find out what people will fall for.

You had 87 blue stars. That thread mattered as have the rest of them over the years.

But if I'm being honest this isn't the first time we've been here. If you do it for praise and adulation you should stop. If you do it to bring joy to at least 87 people then by all means continue. I don't need to feel obligated to tell you it was a great job each week.

Enjoy the extra free time. You've spent allot of it generating some great laughs on here over the years.

Praise isn't what I'm looking for. I want to know if I'm connecting with you people. Like comics and comedians, feeback is what keeps it going. Lack of comments, good or bad, indicate I did a good or poor job. It really helps when someone posts memes from the thread, letting me know these were their favorite(s). That's all I was asking for. Was my effort that week for naught?

I love the SF and would hope you reconsider. Maybe I should have commented more.

I think you should be careful with your perspective. Something that has helped me through tasks, hobbies and work: don't do it for the results…do it for the sake of doing it. Seeking results or favor from people on the internet is a fool's errand.

My wife isn't on Texags, but she takes my phone and reads the Sunday Funnies on the way home from Church. Then she'll tell me which ones she wants me to send to her so she can send to her friends.

May I offer: Rather than weekly, just when you feel like it. "Wednesday edition of..." or whatever.

Appreciate you Rocky. You brightened more Sunday mornings than you can imagine. I typically took several and used the memes as a way to start Sunday conversations with families and friends via texts sharing favorites of mine or ones applicable to the recipient.

For that I am thankful for your work. But you do what you think is best and know you brought many a smile to mine and other fellow TexAg-gers, and many times in moments when humor was needed.

Really rocky, I am much grumpier than you but I understand there are ebbs and flows on this board and the recent influx of "posters" that I can only assume are talking point bots has taken the overall quality of this forum down several notches. But you continue to contribute stellar content here and I for one always look forward to clicking on your posts.

Me and my wife lying here looking at the west Texas landscape after anniversary night out after 33 years and both got excited to see Sunday funnies hit already this morning . lol disappointed goes without saying. Neither of us have social media ( Texags is it for me) , nor are we the everyone gets a trophy "at a boy" type. We do enjoy them memes and gifs. Just rarely respond to things online (usually put my foot in my mouth- heck, probably doing that now) I don't blame you for not doing it because of the time and effort it takes but if it's something you enjoy don't let a lack of comments stop you. How bout blue stars? I'll brt you get more blue stars on a weeks posting then I've had on 15-20 years total on Texags lol. Do what you like but it will be missed and we will survive and proceed - just like us fans that have been following Aggie football for 50+ years. I'm not trying to gripe or get you to change your mind just saying I think many of us on politics page try to keep low social media profiles (heck I get nervous blue starring some memes lol)

I don't post all the time, but I'm one of those 87 stars every week.

We get enough crap around here every stinkin' day, and the SF is respite from that, and it's appreciated even if that's not expressed. If you choose to take that away, it'll be missed, but you do you.

I really enjoy making people laugh whether in person or on this site. God gifted me with a sharp wit that I've used all of my life. In addition, he gifted me the ability to draw cartoons which I used wherever I was - school, work, the military, my family, you name it, I saw things others took for granted that I turned into humor. I'm not bragging, it's just a fact. I can find humor in just about anything.

So, when I crack a joke and the person laughs, I know I did good. When someone doesn't laugh, well, maybe they don't have a sense of humor so I know to not go there. I also knew when not to be funny, for example. One of my professors at A&M was also a cut-up who cracked jokes during his lecture. I knew it was his forum so I kept quiet so as to not butt in. Knowing when and where to use it, and timing, are keys to humor.

One of my sisters thought I should have been a comic on-stage, but I don't do routines. It's spontaneous for me. When I injured my head in 2020 and lost control of my drawing skills, funny memes were a new avenue for humor even though the memes were created by others. It gave me another way to make people laugh or at least smile. But just as when someone laughs in person, which is feedback, so is a comment. BTW, comments on this thread keep the thread atop of the forum so others can laugh at the memes. When the thread dies around noon and sinks down the page, it makes me think I have failed.

You made a lot of people's Sunday mornings humorous and enjoyable.

That's a pretty good gift to strangers, just to lighten a moment of their day. If 20 people responded, you can imagine 100s more enjoyed it without posting.

I always read them, send some on to my wife and tell her about you and your thread each week. This seems a strange post to me. I understand the ego boost of a lot of stars. But I post because I want to, not for everyone else. I have a few photo threads on the Panhandle Board with just a few views, but I put them up for me and the small group that likes them

All I have to add is you had 87 stars. But you also had over 2400 views. Lots of us read without comment or stars. Maybe total views should be your metric

FWIW I forwarded the best ones on most weeks to other people who I wanted to brighten their day.

Reading the Sunday Funnies is the number one reason I take a look at the Politics Board every Sunday. As for the 20 replies last week, you could probably multiply that number by at least 50 or more for the number of folks like me who enjoy reading the Funnies but don't make a reply.

Rocky, I have really enjoyed your Sunday posts, as have my wife. As an older poster, I really connected with so many of your memes, and I have wondered how much time you devoted to them.

Blue Stars and complimentary posts are our main feedback, and I have sometimes taken your work for granted; but I want you to know that your post are my weekly highlight on the politics board. I sincerely hope you reconsider.

Absolute truth. You get affirmed for how much you put in maybe 1 out of 1000 opportunities, but somehow those are worth it

Dang, I'm sorry Rock - I'm exhibit A for the unappreciative, I guess. I RUSH to this board on Sunday mornings to see your memes, steal around a dozen and then add them to a text thread I created a long time ago titled 'Sunday Funnies' with all my family members.

And when one of them asks me where I got such hilarity, I vaguely answer, "Oh here and there on the Internet" because I don't want them to find your thread and I enjoy getting the credit.

Now I realize I'm nothing but a damn thief and a lousy person for never making even one comment/Like on any of your Sunday Funnies thread. I suck. I'm worse than the guy that reads every review on Amazon but never leaves a review himself (which I also do).

You have a great gift that many really just do not the capacity to appreciate. Similar to British humor. Anyways there are those of us who recognize your efforts but don't always respond. I fall into this group. I resend many of your funnies and I get about half or fewer to "like".
It may be that the time of year has a little to do with lack os response as people don't have time to respond or that this time year brings with it memories of past loved ones etc. there are higher rates of mortality this time of year for olds. Anyway, I get a huge boost from SF.
