The fact this is now 4 pages deep all but confirms that some posters are trying to validate their need for stars to satisfied their existence on this site.
If Rocky wants to post funnies, fine do so, but crying about not getting any love or validation is sad and pathic.
You don't see other posters crashing out, because threads they started don't get stars or comments.

This week has been a bit unnerving for me and I strongly suspect, for him. The thread about user profiles and stars singled us both out, among others. Then the POTD thread again singled us out.
Attention is not the same as validation. Now rocky and I have different purposes for doing what we do on this forum. His is nailing a certain zeitgeist in very current humor. That's a resonating meme purpose. The demos of this forum are changing. Us old farts, have a certain frame of reference that is completely foreign to younger poster. (And usually are just less civil and meaner, too boot.)

And over the last several years over multiple topics and multiple threads I have been absolutely nails far more often than I whiffed. And when I do make mistakes, I stand corrected and acknowledge them. So giving me stars is nice, I guess. As is when I run off a wannabe lawyer who tries to argue with me, leaves and comes back with a new username is a capitulation, I suppose. Different type of validation.

This has nothing to do with the disaster of a football game yesterday. It has everything to do with the R.O.I. that I don't get each Sunday morning. As I stated in the past, the lifeblood of this thread is the comments and feedback.
Last week, 20 of you were kind enough to give me that - just 20!!! And it's the usual twenty people that take the small effort to let me know they appreciate what I do here. To you guys I say thank you. To the rest of you freeloaders, you killed the Sunday Funnies, not me and not those who took the time to type 'well done' and 'thank you, rocky'.
And with that, I can bet I will get a slew of comments for not posting memes this morning than when I do post them.
Not seeing anywhere where he is asking for help and not just melting down and turning the car around and going back home because of lack of engagement on his threads. It's petulant behavior and unbecoming of an Aggie in my actual no BS, honest opinion if you want to get into values. Old or New. I don't want to throw mud around per se, but just answering your assertion of what we should value. As before, I have no skin in this and have no particular wish to go super deep on it. It's just a weird thread that caught my eye because of the unusual number of responses to it.

You usually get plenty of stars as have been said. Plenty of people look forward to your posts. As a compromise to keep it going, I suggest limiting them to only 3 or 4 that are the best that day or are readily available. That way you don't have to burn so much time putting it together and TexAgs still gets to look forward to your threads. Win. Win.

If a poster is needing validation from texags posts, it may be best for them to take a break for a while. What we dont need is some sort of victim declaration posts
Gary did a similar thing on premium but his involved not feeling appreciated by the staff.

Zoo and OB poster here. Politics lurker, but always came by on Sunday for the Funnies. Sad to see this development.
I've always enjoyed them. I've always starred them to try to reflect that. And they always get a ton of stars. Every Sunday this thread is up high on "Post of the Day", so a lot of folks supported it using the functionality designed for the board. Kind of an odd meltdown, but sorry if you didn't find that to be enough.
Wanted to drop by and say thank you for always posting these. I've always admired the dedication and amount of work that had to be put in to creating the post each week, and they always give me a good laugh Sunday mornings when I'm usually trying to chase off the effect of a few too many drinks from the night before.
I've never posted a response or starred, but wanted you to know that I have enjoyed them each week, and sent the memes around a lot in some group texts. (imitation is the sincerest form of flattery)
All that being said, you have to do what is best for you, so whatever that is, I hope you do it and embrace your decision.

Comments I was hoping to get were things like 'love the Rodney Dangerfield memes' or 'more Calvin and Hobbes. please". I had to know what you liked in order to stay in that lane, so to speak. If Far Side cartoons work, I want to hear it from you. This wasn't about me, but a mere 20 comments last week was really disappointing. And then, of course, as I predicted, there are over 90 comments on this thread today, mostly positive, but some really insulting ones as well.
I hope you change your mind about continuing. Either you enjoyed doing it or you didn't, but I am the classic TexAgs lurker and rarely comment on anything good or bad. I always look for Rocky or Hawg posts, so Hawg don't stop posting too just because I don't respond.

I really enjoyed these threads but a dude sitting at #2 in blue stars then crying about not getting enough feedback is dumb. It's not like he's creating these and showing them for the first time here. I post on the food board and sometimes things turn into the enchilada or gumbo thread and sometimes they drop of P1 in a few days. It's strangers on the internet. No big deal

I lurk alot like many and don't post that much. I did enjoy them and read them pretty much every week. It will be missed, but if you want to take time off, have at it.

I will state that your Sunday Funnies posts are the Destination Store of this F16 strip mall. I agree with other posters that views is what you should be looking at. I know you said you want the interaction, but views will tell you how many people you've impacted each Sunday.
If it's become a chore you no longer like to do, then I get it. Perhaps switching to a First Sunday of the Month schedule might better.

Rocky, thanks for the great memories. I think none of us gave you feedback on how to improve the funnies because we thought they were perfect ("some weeks were more perfect than others" - George Orwell). Fortunately, your historical Sunday Funnies will live on for us to refer back to and maybe bump from time-to-time.
As for Calvin and Hobbs, I laughed when you mentioned it because my fist reaction was the same as when I found out that Bill Watterson would no longer make new cartoons.
