No. There is a difference between wanting to win every election by the established fair rules, and taking steps to permanently institutionalize your party into power by setting the rules to permanently ensure your party wins.

The Republicans have had the power to do this for over a year. They have done nothing to abuse it or enable it. Hell, they csnt even pass a law just to ensure eldctins are carried out fairly and limited to properly verified lawful voters.

I predict that if the Dems take the senate, throw away the filibuster, and try to force in Puerto Rico as a state, there will be violence.

I give the prospect of DC as a state almost zero chance, as you really need an amendment to pull that off.

No one who is "MAGA" (random, anonymous Internet posters don't count) is calling for adding states, packing the Supreme Court, and passing countless other laws to enshrine single party rule forever.

Your side has been saying for years they want to do it, and had two Democrat Senators not blocked them in 2021, they would have done it.

Exactly. of course both sides "want power forever." (aside: I hate the idea of 'sides' in our politics). But one side is vocally and actively TRYING to do things that the entirety of world history has shown is designed to 'hold power forever' (adding states, packing the court, taking away guns, etc). No reasonable person would think the two sides are in any manner similar on this issue.

Republicans keep trying very hard to win fairly but defensively because the Democrats keep threatening to purposefully make the laws and conditions entrench themselves into permanent power where elections and voting become all but irrelevant.

I think when they are in power they tend to think they will stay in power. It's when they are out that they become dangerous. I think there will be some serious "fortifying" in 2028. Book it.

It's a dumb comment but I also recall Biden trying to push through legislation that would remove "journalists" from having to pay income tax. He called out a specific job category to not have to pay taxes.

Literally buying the press. Luckily it was cut out of the final legislation.

We do not want to compromise with Marxists so you are correct on that. There is no compromise with "different views" that lead to poverty for all, oppression, and enslavement to the state. Which is what the Democrats are now offering from the next generation.

They were a few breaths away from eliminating the electoral college (which would put federal elections in the hands of dense urban areas), expanding and packing the Supreme Court (with progressive hedges of course), getting rid of the filibuster, lowering the voting age and giving illegal immigrants the right to vote, and make Puero Rico and/or D.C. states. These are all verifiable facts (2020-2024). Yeah. I don't think that it's crazy at all to assume that they'll use "orange man bad" to seize the country and rig it so they won't lose it.

2) pack the court

The main thing the republicans need to do is combat fraud and stop spending money. That is the only thing that they should be focused on, and the thing that they want to do the very least.

I don't think they will, but they should.

This is a basic Prisoner's Dilemma scenario at this point.

There has been a social contract that neither party would try to fundamentally change the underlying governing structure. Unfortunately, that is now out the window with the Democrats openly clamoring to make these massive changes last time around that were blocked by 2 Dem Senators both of whom are no longer in the Senate.

Thus, when your enemy tells you they are going to do something that will destroy you, then actually attempt it and only fail to implement due to two former party members with some semblance of ethics left, then you act now and first to get ahead of it.

We already know they are going to do it ASAP so you act proactively to get changes in place that can try and mitigate the known changes they will make that are specifically designed to increase Democrat voters to a number that can no longer be overcome.

I used to be against the Republicans acting first, but now that we know the Democrats are going to for sure do it (they are only going to get more extreme), there is no longer any reason to not do it now.
