What the heck is the NFL doing, 3 trips up north in 3.5 weeks? Just dumb.
I agree this is dumb, but this is the kind of stretch Stroud needs to be playing in later in the year in order to figure out whether he's really the long term answer at QB or not. This is his fourth season, the clock is ticking.
Last year at Pittsburgh in the playoffs Stroud was 21-32 for 250 yards with a TD pass, an INT, 5 fumbles (2 lost). At New England he was 20-47 for 212 yards with a TD pass, and 4 INT's. Both of those games were outside in the cold. He wasn't great in December against the Chiefs either in December even though Houston won that game. The defense was good enough to make up for his deficiencies more than once last season. If he wants the team to take him seriously and pay him then he needs to prove he's the guy. The best problem the Texans have is they have a defense that is capable of winning the Super Bowl. When you have a defense that good it's going to put a microscope on everything you do as a QB. He doesn't have to be great, he only has to not be bad. Trent Dilfer, Brad Johnson, Jeff Hostetler and Nick Foles all have won the Super Bowl by just not being bad. That being said the offensive line and run game also have to be better this year. They can't put Stroud out there and just put it on his shoulders. If the offensive line and run game are improve and Stroud isn't then everyone will know the answer to the question about whether or not they should sign him long term.
