Dude was 8th or so in receptions on one of the worst teams in cfb that buttchin has run into the ground. Very impressive by Bond.

He led their team in receptions by a lot. He accounted for 31% of their receptions.

I know, he obviously has some talent to be top ten in total catches in all of cfb while being on such a horrible team.

One thing about the Rams, taking Simpson if it at all bothers Stafford and CJ craps the bed again in the playoffs maybe we can get Stafford to move over to Houston in the off-season

I don't think it will. I think McVey was forward with Stafford that Simpson is their plan once Stafford decides its time.

About time for this... He's the glue.

I think this means that either Woodaz is the Henry replacement or they hope EJ Speed can get there, but I don't see Henry getting extended.

love this. i don't think a lot of fans realize how important he is to this defense and the flexibility he allows. running a base 4-2-5 as successfully as the texans do in both the run and the pass can be largely attributed to azeez. not in the sense that he makes all the plays but in the sense that he can be trusted to always be where he needs to be which allows the playmakers to do their thing. he's up there with stingley and anderson imo as far as guys that you can't afford to lose.

it's crazy to think that barring injury problems, this defense on paper is poised to be even better than last season. kamari and bullock are both at the stage in their career where you tend to see defensive backs take big steps forward after already proving to be elite players, if mcdonald pans out he has potential to be a major improvement on the interior, blankenship should be a big step up from a safety position that felt like a revolving door of street free agents last year, and i don't even know where waj's ceiling is but i feel confident with the work he puts in we haven't seen it yet. autry is maybe the biggest loss on that side of the ball, and while i do think he was a bit underrated when he played, i don't see his production being irreplaceable. combine that with the obvious commitment to the run game we've seen in all the signings and draft picks which should keep the d off the field more and this could be a pretty fun season to watch.

yeah i don't see that as a situation where at any point you're gonna see their fans calling for simpson to replace stafford, nor do i see their staff even considering that. he's gonna retire as the rams starting qb whenever that day comes.

Agree 100% with all of this. Just need Stroud to be average and not lose any games with his blunders and this team should go deep.

I presume the plan is that the player, Stafford, will decide when he's ready to retire. ...but problems arise when old farts just won't quit. See Favre, Rogers, etc.

It's clear that the Rams aren't buying the almost nonsensical ratings for the dozens of QBs that will allegedly be first round picks in 2027. With the dozen t sip players and dozen QBs surely going in round 1 next year, they could have waited a year unless they also don't buy the overhype.

Maybe. They had Atlanta's 1st this year. Probably thinking they won't be drafting this high again while Stafford is still playing well. So either make a move now or wait until Stafford stinks.

We are likely hosting the jags either week 1 or the final weekend since we play them week 6 in London. I assume our bye is week 7. The toughest road games are probably Phily and Green Bay. Toughest home games are Buffalo, Baltimore and Cincy. I suspect 3-4 prime time games as one of the AFC favorites.

September 20--Colts
September 24--@ Chargers (TNF)
October 4--@ Browns
October 11--Bengals
October 18--@ Jacksonville (London)
October 25--BYE
November 1--Giants
November 9--@ Steelers (MNF)
November 15--Titans
November 22--@ Colts
November 27--Bills (Black Friday game)
December 6--@ Packers

Whatever the order, last year was the first time we've had an objectively good regular season (12-5) that didn't win a division.

It's pretty much weighing Buffalo/GB/LAC vs. NE/Chicago/Denver. I'm not convinced Jacksonville's first-place set of three is tougher than our second-place group.

Expect 2+ turnovers by Stroud in each of those games.

What the heck is the NFL doing, 3 trips up north in 3.5 weeks? Just dumb.

I agree this is dumb, but this is the kind of stretch Stroud needs to be playing in later in the year in order to figure out whether he's really the long term answer at QB or not. This is his fourth season, the clock is ticking.

Last year at Pittsburgh in the playoffs Stroud was 21-32 for 250 yards with a TD pass, an INT, 5 fumbles (2 lost). At New England he was 20-47 for 212 yards with a TD pass, and 4 INT's. Both of those games were outside in the cold. He wasn't great in December against the Chiefs either in December even though Houston won that game. The defense was good enough to make up for his deficiencies more than once last season. If he wants the team to take him seriously and pay him then he needs to prove he's the guy. The best problem the Texans have is they have a defense that is capable of winning the Super Bowl. When you have a defense that good it's going to put a microscope on everything you do as a QB. He doesn't have to be great, he only has to not be bad. Trent Dilfer, Brad Johnson, Jeff Hostetler and Nick Foles all have won the Super Bowl by just not being bad. That being said the offensive line and run game also have to be better this year. They can't put Stroud out there and just put it on his shoulders. If the offensive line and run game are improve and Stroud isn't then everyone will know the answer to the question about whether or not they should sign him long term.

That stretch would stink. But, unless we get homefield advantage, we'll likely be headed north in the playoffs. Good prep for that, I guess.
